Default What do you want in a successor?

When Sandisk replaces the Fuze line, what would you like to see? It can be software, features (something that can't be done in firmware upgrades) or physical.

Assuming it's not an all touch screen iPod Touch competitor, I would like to see an option to adjust the brightness of the scroll wheel, or to turn it off overall (this is in rockbox, or at least in the e200 series rockbox), because it's pointless to turn the screen down at night when I'm going to be blinded by the blue LEDs.
Also, larger internal memory, but keep the MicroSD card slot. I think 8GB should be the lowest (though they may have 2GB to keep the Fuze available to people who don't spend much on mp3 players).

I won't mind them making it a bit bigger or thicker to have a bigger battery for longer playtime

I don't want them to make another, I just bought the one I have!!! Other than that, maybe ultra efficiency so that it can run on very little energy but make it have some power when necessary.

For me just a couple of things, as I only care about music - I want to watch videos, I'll watch on my TV or computers. :-)

- more native capacity [16GB would be nice, but 32GB would be awesome]
- a bit better battery [real world usage between 24-30 hours]
- maintain uSDHC support but reduce the silly refresh times
- I would only like a marginally larger form factor [couple millimeters thicker at most, but taller is ok for me]

And of course, don't do anything to preclude Rockbox ports ;-)

I just thought of one, add possible support for SDXC memory cards, those things are supposed to be able to get up to 1 or 2 Terabytes (IT'S A GRATUITOUS AMOUNT OF MUSIC).

I also agree that battery life needs to improve. That's the one thing I really hate about the Fuze.

Of course a bigger capacity would be appreciated, but all these things demand a bigger player, and that's the characteristic that I most love about the fuze. It's really small and handy.

P.S - Keep far away from touchscreen!

SDHC also allows for up to 2TB.

Quote:
The older SDHC cards also have a maximum capacity of 2 TB based on the card data structures, but this is artificially limited to 32 GB by the SD 2.0 specification
Expect a new SDXOMGWTFBBQC spec that will too support up to 2TB, but will actually have products that are 2 TB.

Otherwise, all I'd want is
-Better battery life
-More slender factor (not so wide)
-Maintain uSD slot

before I'd ditch all my other purchase plans and get it immediately.

I've never used one of these (ended up with a much loved D2) - but I can put forward what would tempt me to buy one:

Good battery (30+ hrs)
SDXC - or whatever results in at the very least 64Gb. From what I've read, this might require a rethink as to the wheel interface - is it fast enough?

Otherwise - it already does what I want. Keep it small, keep it simple, and keep it free of touchscreen function creep.

More internal memory is the biggie for me,but as long as rockbox would still run on it, they can keep selling the current one for all I care.

This gets ignored too many times. Manufactures keep aiming for slim and tiny, but i wouldnt mind an extra bit of bulk for longer battery life.
