That took them quite some time to release it. Then again, it's probably the biggest update since they added gapless playback. Quote:

It certainly feels more snappy and responsive, even with Claw's UI over the stock one.

Oh wow, thanks for this! I thought they were done for good with the S9.
UI is so much smoother, sliding effects are fantastic. I'm using Claw's UI with dfkt's dark theme thing. I use FLow for the music UI, no difference there but that was already as smooth as can be. Scratch that! With FLow, seeking is now instantaneous - the UI no longer freezes for as second after seeking with FLow. EXCELLENT! Last edited by Beremat; 08-02-2010 at 03:09 PM. |

Well...ive been using the previous Korean Firmware V1.53 for over a month now...and i gotta say...the mid to high ranges on that and this firmware...just seem to be far cleaner and richer sounding with more definition...just seems channel separation is better overall...well at least to me. Possibly a few things have been learned from the J3 firmware...and the port/re-write of the code for the S9 includes all the goodies
So..its a fantastic update for a truly fantastic player..and you all need to install now! .....well done Cowon! ![]() Ohhhh..and i use my own User EQ settings which has everything flat/default...the only option i have turned on is MP Enhance. Which i find to be a brilliant option...with the Seinheiser CX300 Mk2 Last edited by Chadz; 08-03-2010 at 02:33 PM. |

Hot dang! I had decided Cowon had moved on from the S9. Thanks for the link, dfkt.

S9 and J3 are nearly identical, I myself don't see why they wouldn't do updates for both, but then again Cowon usually doesn't take the logical path.

its a great update - the only negative is that the battery life finishes a lot sooner than before - but i like the snappy interface!

just wanted to upgrade, but then i read littlebuddhas comment. to me battery life is more important than a snappier interface. can anyone else comment on battery life with 2.53?

Just give it a try - you can always revert back to an older firmware version.

Has anyone noticed that the battery doesn't drain when the player is put to sleep, but with bluetooth enabled? It's also entirely possible that I'm just imagining this..

Did some tests.. think I was just imagining things. It does seem to suck more power than before without bluetooth though. Doesn't matter since it still has a ridiculously long battery life.

I wonder if this is going to be their last firmware update?

I just wish they would release an update that fixes the playlists. After all, how difficult is it to fix the minor issues that the S9 has? After all, a $50 sensa has no issues at all with playlists yet a $300 S9 has major problems with playlists. Boo hoo. Oh, and, of course, their tech support is non existent because I've emailed them over and over again and they never respond.

I felt as if I should posted this on the 2.52 thread but this will suffice. I just purchased a 32gig, (had a 16 before) and I was wondering the right steps to take to avoid bricking the player, as I type/speak it's chargeing I took it out of the box, played with it for a bit. Now im considering uploading the lastest firmware.....which I felt it should have came with preloaded, anyhow upload the firmware then throw about 8gigs of music on it, is this the right thing to do.......I want to avoid bricking...
Edit: Also firmware wise is it safe to just jump from 2.50 to 2.53....?

It's perfectly safe going from 2.50 directly to 2.53.

Mine drains the battery faster with 2.53 too, no doubt about it. And the bug where the hardware buttons suddenly switch functions seems much more common too.
