Help Any real differences between these 2 JVC Marshmallows?

Hey all...want to pick up a pair of Marshmallows for my mom, mainly because of all the strong word of mouth here. Anyone know the difference between these 2 please?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...B0YKKX87DND9R9

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HA-FX34P-M.../dp/B0012UF1QA

According to JVC pics on their site, the second one seems to be the new/current ones...Any feedback on which is better between the 2?

I know, at this pricepoint this is pretty much irrelevant, but it is for my mom after all...

tia,

No significant differences AFAIK. I have both the 34 and 35 versions of the Marshmallows and the seem identical in SQ to me. The only difference I could see was that the eartips on the 35 were a bit longer and provide a slightly better seal. The keeper on the slide grips a bit better on the 35 so there's fewer adjustments needed. Any other differences seem to be purely cosmetic.

Thanks a lot skip252! Odd the JVC naming convention...seems the 35 is actually the OLDER version.

Will grab the 35's then for mom...cheers and thank you again!

Lestatar:

I'm pretty sure that the 35s are the newest. I have 33s, and then there were 34s. The 35s haven't been discussed too much here that I have noticed.

Visually, the 33s and 34s look identical. The colours changed a bit when the 34s came out, and I think the 34 cable may have been changed slightly to suit the ipod touch. (At least that's what I recall, there's gotta be some old posts on this, but I didn't look.)

Visually on the links you provided, and in the store a couple or three weeks ago, the body of the 35 looks different. Colours? Can't remember (I'm red-green colour blind so tend not to pay attention).

BTW, most people who love the Marshmallows have applied one or more mods (often called Kramer mods). One includes some foam inserted in the earphone (or some such). The other the replacement of the tips. I have replaced the tips with UE tips, and found them much more comfortable and better fitting. Not sure about sound, it was too long ago.

These days I'm using JVC FX-66 Air Cushions. More comfortable out of the box than the original FX-33.

EDIT: Just looked at the JVC USA web-site. Only saw the FX-34 Marshmallows. They are marked as iPod/iPhone compatible, so I think the change from the FX33 was for iPhone not iPod Touch.

Steve

Hey Steve, thank you as well for the info!...Definitely a bit confusing re: the naming convention at JVC for these things...I already ordered the 35s for mom...Will check em out myself of course when I get em to see what all the fuss is about :-)

And yeah, I have run across mentions of the famous Kramer Mod - not sure mom will need/like that but always nice to have options...

cheers!

FWIW the 35's have better stress relief as well.

So your mom gets the ~$10 pair of 'phones and you're going to get the ~$120 pair of 'phones (HJE-900)? Something doesn't seem right here.

Think he's trying to say your mom requires a JH16.

Such a dutiful and filial son you are.

I gave my mother a pair of Sony MDREX51 to replace her stock iPod Nano earphones.

Those operas can make my jewels shrivel. Especially because I live in Singapore, so every now and then the TV has...
