Hi!
I've read a couple times about the rumour that charging via AC adapter will provide a longer battery life than charging via USB. I guess without thinking about details, it's a somewhat valid assumption. Can anyone confirm or assume from personal experience this is true? Thanks, -justin |

How the hell would charging from a AC adapter provide a longer life? Energy is energy. That's the most idiotic rumor I've ever heard.

It could provide faster battery charge, depending on the input rating of the J3. If it doesn't exceed 500mAh, then you'd notice no observable difference in charge time.

xD ok, thanks for the replies~
I have an existing cheap $10 AC-usb charger at home I'll be using with my J3 then, I guess. xD -Justin |

You've not been provided with the full detail/scenario. Energy is energy, but if the J3 when connected to a computer via USB thinks its fully charged when in fact it is not and stops charge prematurely, then it does makes a difference. In my own experience and testing, I can clearly test and observe the J3 being fully and completely charged when using an AC adapter.

Not really. Depends on the programming.
Like my N900, for example (it's the only thing I have that logs battery capacity), will charge till 100% (not really 100, but I digress) if you leave it alone, but if you disconnect it at 90% and plug it in again, it will report itself as fully charged. All modern players actually charge till 100%, and if you don't disconnect, quite discharge 10% (gradually over 8 hours for my N900) and charge back up to 100% again. |

No, the charging logic is in the J3.

I have tested with a Kill-A-Watt meter to observe the electricity consumption of the AC charger when charging. It goes like this: 5w -> 4w -> 3w -> 2w -> 1w to 0w when fully charged. It does not overcharge. The AC adapter is not charging at a linear, constant. The closer it gets to a fully charged state, the less electricity it uses.
