Has anyone else here seen this movie?
I thought it was AWESOME, but then again, I'm a complete sucker for sci-fi. It probably just confused most ppl. |

Hey, not yet, but i plan to for sure...prolly later this week...Glad to hear you liked it. Advance word of mouth is that this could be Chris Nolan's best film yet - which is saying alot as the guy has done a ton of great work already IMO, not the least of which was Dark Knight.
OT, but since you are a sci-fi fan, you must see Predators IMO as well...Quite suprisingly good...I really really enjoyed it. -lestatar

I don't know anything about directors it seems.
![]() Hey he did Momento and The Prestige. Along with Batman and this movie, that makes him a sweet director in my book. ![]() I might go see Preditors but first I have to go see Inception again. |

Indeed. Chris Nolan, IMO, is one of the best directors to come around in recent years. Reading his list of directorial credits is impressive to say the least. Impressive and diverse.
That guy is on a major roll :-)

Really great concept, but just not that entertaining, IMO. I absolutely worship Nolan's Batman films, but his others have always left me cold, and Inception was no exception.

HSN, wow, sorry , I simply don't agree. Inception was certainly one of the best movies I have seen in some time. A total mind*#$( from start to finish.
IMO, Christopher Nolan is currently one of the best cinematic storytellers around and is clearly a director at the height of his powers. Reminds me a bit of Ridley Scott when he came out with Gladiator and Black Hawk Down. Inception was part Matrix, 13th Floor, Dark City and Memento, just to name a few - all films I greatly enjoyed. :-)

That's fine, lestatar. I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you can go to the movies and have a good time, then that's great. To each his or her own.

Thanks HSN...so nice that ABi ain't imdb...know what I mean? ![]() In truth, I am pretty easy to satisfy in terms of movies - I am not a connoisseur or anything, but simply consider myself a life long movie fan. So perhaps I am not the best judge in the case.... ![]() ![]()

Kill the nonbeliever!
I like Ridley Scott's movies too, I happen to know who he is. I love movies almost as much as music. I used to love videogames too but I've given up on them at least for now. I'm such a nerd. |

Just saw it today and enjoyed it. Visually it was great and the background music kept me anticipating more action.
Last time I recall being on the edge of my seat in a theater was watching the Dark Knight, coincidentally another Nolan film. |

Saw it last night and was blown away - thought everything about it was great, the story, the direction, the pace, the acting... the writing was a little bit forced sometimes but that didn't detract from the overall.
My only problem was that now we've seen steroscopic 3D it's almost a disapointment when it's not there. This is a film that would have been prefect for it. Just bad timing I guess.

Hey EddieE, hope you are well!
Yours is pretty much my own reaction to Inception. As for the writing, I have noticed that Nolan does have a distinctive screenwriting voice - not nearly as pronounced and ideosyncratic as Mamet, but it is a discernable style, at least to me. I had really no issues with this movie at all and plan to see it at least 2 more times. For sure, my initial reaction is the same a few days later - one of the finest films [of any genre, but certainly in this genre] that I have seen in recent years. What I really like about Nolan's films is that they are generally pretty smart films - no real hand-holding for the audience with stupid, unnecessary scenes of exposition. In Inception there is basically zero time spent on the actual workings of the dreaming device used. There are moments of exposition thrown throughout the film but most often used as incidental dialog during scenes. There was the obligatory exposition between Cobb and Ariadne, but even this was handled pretty well. Nolan IMO will not patronize or condescend to the audience in this manner. You either get it or you don't. To be honest, I am a bit surprised that the movie is such a popular hit with the masses for this very reason. The concepts discussed are pretty deep and involved - I cannot honestly say that I understood everything and I like to believe that my gray matter works pretty well. I saw it in NYC on IMAX. Believe me, that is all you need. TBH, I simply do not buy into the 3D thing for mass market films at the moment. Immersive? Probably hell yes. But, ironically, I tend to think that 3D might render films less believable for me as a viewer - too fake. I have yet to see a truly engaging 3D presentation that I didn't feel was overly artificial. Do you plan to see it again? IMAX theaters are available in London, correct?

Inception was good; it was nice to see an original concept dealing with such aspects of the human consciousness, but I would rather see less of movies like Avatar: Special Bullshit Edition and The Last Airbender and more like Scott Pilgrim and Inception.

My roomates talked up inception before I went to see it, and it was good, but not awesome.
I'd see it again, but it was too big of a mind *#^!* for me. I followed, like Im not stupid or anything , but it was just a thinking movie, and I don't like them, I prefer to be told the story other then have to try and remember how it all works. Plus, I'm very lateral thinking, and half the time I tried figuring out how the technology in the film worked!

It was... disappointing. The only question you have, is if the events of the movie was a DREAM or NOT A DREAM. That's it. I was expecting more, to be honest. It was fresh, but not memorable to the level of Memento, Being There and the ilk.
