For whatever it's worth, I bought the card last month and it works fine (note that it's a Class 2 card and so may be slower for loading onto than with faster cards). And the rebate process has been fine thus far, PNY (the manf.) acknowledging receipt, the validity, and the processing of my rebate request within a week of my mailing it.

Go 'fer it--a 24GB Clip+ is nice to have.

I am not interested in mail in rebate deals. I also only want cards made by Sandisk, Kingston. or Lexar/Micron, and greatly prefer class 4 cards over class 2.

Yes, and I would like to be King of England for a day. But we all have certain limitations, and an $18 microSD 16GB card that seems to function fine and with what seems to be an easy enough rebate process (and I don't like rebates either) can be a good thing.

The Sandisk card is only $31 on Amazon with free shipping, so it is only $11 more than the Polaroid deal. For just $11 more someone doesn't have to fight for the mail in rebate, and gets a Sandisk card. Imo well worth the $11 extra.

Actually, no fight for the mail-in rebate (at least thus far)--PNY acknowledged my rebate submission, its validity, and its processing within a week of my mailing it in. Although I don't prefer rebates, good to see good service with one.

I have no experience trying to get rebates from PNY, however there were plenty of mail in rebates that I sent away for and never received. I guess if I was persistent enough I might have received some of them, however it usually isn't worth the bother of following these up when they aren't received.

Can't speak for other brands, but my new 16GB Class 2 Sandisk µSD has slightly faster read/write speeds than my older 8GB Class 6 Sandisk µSD. So much for advertising.

Yes, but with Rockbox there is no limit.

And, the deal is back on again at Fry's/frys.com, for the 16GB microSD card. Actually, the last deal seems to have just continued on, but with a new rebate offer (so if you did the deal last week, for example, you could do the rebate again now).

Also, as to the rebate: totally reliable, in my experience--I received my rebate today, less than 3 weeks after I had mailed the rebate form/proof of purchase in. Now this is how a rebate program should be run.
