Default why would ms do this?
why would ms create a window live app for apple appstore and not one for us? shouldnt it be the other way around. and they created it on june 21.. it seems like they are going to their competitor first than us to release new content

I think it is odd that they don't even put their own services on their own device. Is Weather really the only one that should be on the Zune?

its probably because the ipod is more like wp7 and they are planning on making there apps for it

The above poster (who could he be!?) is correct. It's about targeted demographics. The apps you're mentioning are targeted at people who have the oppurtunity of near constant connectivity, something a smartphone has, and a Zune HD does not. And yes, I know someone is going to say "But the apps load on the Ipod Touch," to which I reply, only an idiot would make an app for the Iphone and then take the time to ensure that the Ipod Touch cannot load it.

WP7 will likely have these apps at launch or shortly thereafter. WP7 is the platform where MS is app-centric. The Zune HD is all about portable media, and while we can argue this all day, apps are not their focus for this platform.

Of course, apps are not the focus of the Zunes. But, there were apps on release, there have been more apps released since and there is the promise of more app releases in the future. Their idea was to have a limited number of free apps, under their control, sans a big app store. Apps for their own services would easily fit their model for apps on the device.

Really, the most logical reason I can think of not to pimp your own services as apps on your own app enabled device is probably because the device and the users are not worth your time or effort.

As Medion says, apps are a focus for WP7, not ZuneHD. That said - if an IM client was in the works, are you saying I should cancel it?

I'd probably make a joke about how MS would make the IM client Zune to Zune via ad-hoc only, ensuring that no one would ever be able to use it.

But hey, make any apps you want, and I'll use the ones I enjoy. As much as I criticized the decision to launch a bunch of card games, I've become addicted to hearts when I should be working.

Well just because apps are focused on WP7 doesnt mean zHD cant get any love.
