Any reason why this is disabled by default in rockbox? Nothing seems to really make mention of this and was just curious as to why this seems to be the case...
EDIT: Rummaging around, I'm also not familiar with the icons that seem to randomly float around as well. Anyone point me in the direction as to what the symbols signify? Especially the one that's got a squiggly line running across the upper right hand corner next to the clock for dkft's theme. Last edited by nue; 05-30-2010 at 02:44 AM. Reason: Degressed from OT |

I know back in the early e200v2 (and if I'm not mistaken, the Fuzev2/Clip* ports) it was disabled because it caused a lot of bugs. It's also probably not the most mainstream of features, but I'm just guessing.
As for the icons, I've sometimes wondered about this too, but usually went into the theme files and look at names to figure stuff out (although that's never helped me figure out why the crossfade icon always looks like it's enabled in the ART theme...). I would've figured it'd be in the manual, but I can't seem to find it either. Anyways, I would be interested to know too. |

Thanks for the responses. But I'm afraid I'll have to derail my original post even further. Better to do that than start a new thread eh?
Anyway, last question; is it possible to utilize hold? I see the option to toggle back light during hold but how do you get into "hold" status in the first place? EDIT: I lied. Playback appears to be incredibly wonky? Seems like it actually slows down? Was doing A to B comparisons with computer and noticed that it actually slows down. Used a stopwatch to verify the speeds and so it appears that the clip is slowly but surely slowing down. Strange that the clock is still consistent though on the clip. Files tested were 320kb CBR, V2 VBR, and a FLAC file. Okay so trying out said FLAC file in OF, it seems that it's slightly sped up. =( Last edited by nue; 05-29-2010 at 03:26 PM. |

On the Clip+ it's kind of a placeholder command at the moment (in my humble opinion).
I don't have my Clip+ handy, but if I remember correctly it's Home+Select or somesuch. I had a bit of a tough time getting it to work at first, but it did eventually.

Yeah it worked as you said (It's Home+Select ). But I think it's quite nice and vastly more useful than the OF version.

Fair enough. Last time I used it (quite a while now), I think it had just been implemented and getting it to actually 'lock' took a fair amount of finesse.
Glad to help, though :P . EDIT: They heard us talking haha. Thanks again, funman.

So it seems haha.
But has anyone else noticed my discrepancy? |

I've not noticed it, but when I get to my Clip+ (should be some time tomorrow), I'll test it out and report back.
As usual, what build etc are you using? Also, is it just when you put the player in hold or what? |

Good point. Changed in r26396 to be like the OF (long press home).

Rockbox - r26367-100529 and r26405-100530 are both slower than standard.
OF - .01.02.15A is a bit too fast. Last edited by nue; 05-30-2010 at 02:41 AM. |

r26467-100602 is still the same...
Is anyone else not getting this either? |

How much slower? I use my ears to check if audio sounds fine, not a stopwatch, and for me it's fine enough

RB: r26480-100602 - OF:01.02.15A
My tests were anything but scientific, but I did get a slight difference. Seemed to be about a full second difference to every minute of play. I started off with a 30 second sample and figured that about a half second could've just been my finger on the play/pause button. So I went up to a minute and yep, seemed to be a full second. I can't hear it with my ears, but if I sit down with a stopwatch and my Clip+ there does seem to be a variation in play speed between the OF and RB... EDIT I should mention too, this is using a FLAC file off the internal memory.

Experiences are about the same sunami88's actually.
FLAC file off internal memory, a discrepancy of give or take a second for every 30 seconds though. It's faster than standard on OF and slower in Rockbox. Rather annoying as none of my other DAPs have this issue. Audio quality may be fine but sometimes I also enjoy A to B comparisons with separate ears using other sources and the Clip+ seemingly fails in this regard of allowing me this simple test. Anyone shed some light on why this might be? Maybe a hardware limitation? Last edited by nue; 06-02-2010 at 02:24 PM. |

So no reactions on the play speed variation, eh? Weird. Can't be the whole "19 cents" (or whatever it's called) issue, as that was supposedly fixed in a firmware upgrade. But also to my understanding, it wouldn't have made that noticeable of an impact.
Also, I agree with dfkt. I thought the old way to lock the controls were better , just needed a little more tuning for the timing on the buttons. Kind of ironic how the "Quick Screen" isn't so quick to get to :P . I do think the Home+Select made more sense, but maybe that's just the vocal minority. |

Guess nobody really cares. r26592-100605 has no difference either. A rather annoying feature (depending on how you spin it) when my workouts end up being 10 minutes longer than they should have been.
