I've heard the term ROM being used a lot, the primary use being "rooting" it. What exactly is ROM, what do people mean when they say to root it, and how is it done?
Might sound like a stupid question, but gotta start somewhere right? |

"Read Only Memory".
In this case it probably refers to the storage holding the device firmware, or more colloquially, the firmware itself. Root is an account on a unix system with very high privileges on the machine, like administrator on Windows. |
