Upgrade from Touch version 6.C to 6.D

Well, maybe you remember the official Samsung answer was not really clear:

"Touch 6.C and Touch 6.D is same touch Firmware.. But some customers have 6.D.. It's from replaced front panel. Some of A/S parts (Not all) are supplied as Touch 6.D firmware.. But it's exactly same firmware...
If customer want to change it to 6.C, possble to change it by firmware upgrade(Just drag&drop) to latest version again."

For me it meant:

In fact, 6.C or 6.D only refers to different LCD screens. But it does not affect the touch performance. That is why, if you have a P3 with fw 2.20/2.22 touch 6.D and you reinstall the fw 2.20/2.22, touch version becomes 6.C again.

BUT surfing on Chinese forums (Yes I know, I'm everywhere on the web ) I found a post apparently from the Technical Staff of Samsung in which he shares the way to upgrade from touch 6.C to 6.D. He claims touch performance is better in 6.D
I guess I don't notice any difference but I share with you so that you can try yourself

So basically you just have to download this archive (you can also download it in attachment).
Extract it. Then just put the Psoc.bin file at the root of your P3, disconnect it and turn it on again.
Check the touch version in settings>system>about. It should be written 6.D now.

No.
Almost any manufacturer changes hardware components during the production period. That may be for cost reasons or quality reasons or both together. So a P3 produced early 2009 may not have exactly the same components than a P3 produced today. But the result has to be the same for the final user. Regarding the touch screen, the one used for repairs at the after-sales service is different than the original one. And it comes with the 6.D touch version. But this new touch version seems not to be only linked to hardware but might also improve touch performance on any P3. That's why I propose you to test the 6.D version. But if you want to come back to the 6.C you just have to reinstall the firmware.

Originally he thought "Different" screens being 6.D was only on the P3's that had the screen replaced by Samsung. Thus thought the "after market" screens were compatible but slightly different.

He's now correcting that thought with more accurate information that he found and providing the screen firmware so we all can take advantage of the "update".

and... in 2.07 there is touch 7.5... why did Samsung not included it into the following firmware versions...???

Touch 6.D is obviously better than Touch 7.5.
But don't me ask how they name Touch versions, I don't understand

FWIW, I got a brand new retail 16 GB P3 from Dell around Oct/Nov 2009. It came stock with the 2.18 firmware and Touch 6.D. So I guess some retail units are also shipped with 6.D.

But I was hesitant to upgrade to 2.22 since it downgraded the Touch driver to 6.C, so I'm glad you found this 6.D upgrade!

woah! I had a "dead spot" on my touchscreen in the upper right corner, and after upgrading to 6.D, it went away. This is awesome stuff!!

Well, it FEELS a bit smoother than it was. Mostly that was in the song menu. Scrolling was more accurate.

could I have the recovery tool? I remember playing around with my P2 with that thing. sadly, it didn't unbrick my P2 did it finally did brick.

I'm still thinking about what I'll do with that recovery tool. It's for an internal use only normaly. This tool has not been made for the public, only for the after-sales service center, that's why this FWDN version is unstable, and may be dangerous (it can destroy/burn your chipset). I cannot share it without making an accurate tutorial and at the moment I don't have time for it (and don't really want to test on my P3 whereas it is working fine).

I have one small question: release date of my p3 changed to 2010/04/20. Previously it was 2009. Will it change back if i reinstall the firmware?

It's not the release date of the P3 but of the firmware.
Fw 2.22 has been released in 2010 (20/04) while the previous one (2.20) has been released in July 2009.
