Default Why are these Xvid files so large?

I have just downloaded Neil Young - Heart of Gold, the concert/documentary.

The 10 individual rar files of 100mb or thereabouts each extracted into nearly a gigabyte each, making the entire 1hr 30m movie 10Gbs in size.

Video is 672 x 400, framerate 23.9
Audio is a52 48000, 256kbps

Is it normal for a music film to be this large? Previous regular Xvid movies I've downloaded have been around 700mb to 1Gb. So I'm a bit puzzled.
