I cannot believe how difficult it is to get a movie to play on this thing!
I read the specifications of the supported video files on page 87 of the manual where it clearly states that MPEG4 and WMV (WMV9) files are supported. I have the latest version of AVS Video Converter installed in my pc and I diligently applied the recommended settings, namely : MP3 Sound (or WMA) (128kbps, 44.1Khz) Max bitrate:860kbps Resolution: 30fps 320x240 My YP-Q2 just will not accept these movie formats! I removed Emodia because it corrupted other software on my pc and I spent hours tryiing to restore the situation. Any thoughts please anyone? Gazza |

When I had mine, I only used it for audio, which it did very well....fantastic sounding player. Never tried video on it, but I seem to remember reading something about an "SVI" video format that the Emodio program produced for the player.
Hopefully, you can find something out by searching for info related to that.

When i had my Q2 i used any video converter and converted to avi, with the video codec set to mpeg4. After you convert to avi, change the file name from .avi to .svi and then transfer to the Q2. Never used wmv so i cant comment on that, sorry.

No - tried everything I can think of now.
Even tried JSVI encoder specifically for Samsung, albeit the YP-Q2 was not an option within the software menu. I have certainly tried 320x240 30fps and all of the other recommended settings. I am now out of ideas. If anyone can suggest anything new, I will be all ears. Gazza |

OK I will try these suggestions and let you know over the next few days.
Too tired to bother now! My experience might be helpful to someone - who knows! I will also try a different file to encode - it could be that the file I am using is faulty - got to try everything I suppose. Good night ![]() Gazza |

Get MEncoder (from MPlayer package) and use this DOS-command:
mencoder "sourcefile.avi" -o "destinationfile.svi" -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 -vf scale=320:240,crop=320:240 -mf fps=25 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128 Works like a charm. Took me weeks to find out, though :-) Enjoy! lookingfor N.b.: MEncoder is *free* and thus legal to use for everybody. And it's probably better than some of these "one-click-converters" :-) |
