Default Cowon S9 Speakers

I am really having trouble finding good speakers for the S9. I am looking for a set for home and a set for traveling. Sound quality is a concern, which it seems may be a drawback for bluetooth. Any recomendations?

How portable are you looking for? I have this speaker for my S9:
http://www.amazon.com/Altec-Lansing-...4019776&sr=8-2
It has surprisingly good sound and bass for a portable.

I have the X-Mini Max and that's really great. It's really small with great soundquality.

I doubt if the Cowon ones work with the radio (since there would be no cable/antenna).

j3ff1986: do yours work with the radio?

The S9's radio antenna is internal, so any speaker works with it.

Default Home speakers?

Thanks for the portable tips. How about some good home speakers with good bass?

First of all, that Korean speaker, the Tion S9, hasn't been released yet as far as I'm aware.

Home speakers with good base...there are toooons. Logitech Z-4s are a favorite of mine, but it's a 2.1 system. Great for what it is, but still only 2.1. They also make a 5.1 system, the Z5500s, which are awesome beyond belief, but you'll need a soundcard that can output 5.1 signal...it also accepts digital input. Very nice.

But I agree with X-mini line for portable. I have an X-mini II, and for a speaker that small, it is unbeatable. No other speakers come close. That said, it's still very small, and can only deliver so much bass and quality. Best of its kind though.

Well, considering its for the S9, I'm going to assume that you'll be using them for audio mostly, which IMO its better to have 2.1 for audio. I'd go with some klipsch 2.1 if you can find any. If not then the Logitech Z-2300's are pretty close to them in sound, and price. If your really wanting to drop some coin then you could get some bookshelf speakers a nice amp and a good sub, but that can easily get into the thousands price range. Just say so if your willing to spend that much and I'll throw out some suggestions.

Huh? That would be new to me. And I think to others as well, since dfkt (admin) mentioned this in this thread:

Because it acts as the antenna for FM radio.
Is there any chance of verifying whether the antenna is built in or not?

this is the one that i mostly use with the S9
roughly the same height of the the S9 and twice the thickness.
its got a rechargeable battery and can be used with other mp3
players that have 3.5mm jack input. sounds good so far. i got it for $15.00

The Cowon S9 definetly has NO built in antenna.

As i may quote from the official user guide, page 22:

Quote:
COWONS S9' earphones work as the FM Radio antenna. Straightening the earphone cable will result in better radio reception. Using the earphones is also recommended when recording in radio mode. COWON S9 does not support AM Radio.
Which would lead me back to my doubting about the Cowon speakers working with the radio mode, since they seem to be plugged directly into the player.

The Altec Lansing j3ff1986 recommends look quite interesting also. But at amazon.de they are listed with 41 Euro, which seems a bit high compared to the price at amazon.com.

I have a good set of Logitech speakers hooked up to my computer. What I'm really looking for is the equivalent of an ipod docking station for the S9 to keep in my library. It does not need to charge the S9 but I would like something more than travel speakers to keep up there.

You could simply use a chinch adaptor cable to connect it to your stereo...

I bought the X-mini Max. I'm pretty disappointed with them. They sound just like you would expect tinny little speakers to sound. Pretty tinny. I'm beginning to see this as a real draw back for the s9. I bought it to play flac, but I'm having trouble finding a way to share it with any body.

How is that an S9 specific drawback? The AL speaker does not sound tinny, however it's common sense that no portable speaker can compete against real speakers. If you want to share flac with people, you should buy a pair of AudioEngine A2 or M-Audio AV40 speakers.

Ah, in that case, what you need is to plug your S9 into a sound system;

I guess I'm saying in comparison to portable ipod docks. Luckily, I found a Logitech ipod dock (purefi express) that has an input that the s9 can use. Of course, it wont charge, but that is not a big deal. They sound great and are small enough to move around with. I think they will work for both of my needs.
