5 tracks into the Kanye CD...nothing grabbed me right off. Nothing terrible either. Maybe I am just tired of him too. It happens.

Anyways, I guess you hip-hop fans have one more in your ranks.
Adub has already pointed you in the right direction with Dilla but one producer that will put all your sampling and beats to bed is Madlib is my favorite producer hands down and his catalog of music is crazy. Just this year alone he is putting out an album ever month.

All these producers with a thousand albums each. I don't really know where to start.
I also can't stop listening to None Shall Pass.

Is that the one with the Biggie collab because that is one of the nasty and illest songs that would have been put out on a big label back in the day.

Listening to all my 2010 albums currently and will have my list up soon.

Yeah cunt renaissance is suuuuch a sick track, Biggie just flows so smooth then R A drops his crazyness down.

Been listening to this R.A. the Rugged Man mix tape as well:

I like RA's lyrics and beat selection but cannot get into his voice/accent and flow. I've tried and tried but just can't get into him. I like his videos where he just rants about various shit though. Pretty funny dude.

Yeah he is one of those guys who has had a really tough life, from his father being in Vietnam and being exposed to agent orange and his sisters being affected by birth defects because of it and possibly having his own mental problems from the situation, though never confirmed.

All of that really makes him a great writer and as someone who is a fan of the hardcore/gritty type rappers he is a natural attraction for me hehe.

Plus who would ever think one of the greatest of all time is a jewish rapper hehe.

You Kanye haters lol but no I think he's sick he speaks his mind, it's his 'opinion'. As far as the publicity stunts hmmm haven't gave it much thought whatever makes him more popular I guess.

His skill as an MC both in presentation and lyrically are pretty weak imo when comparing him to the other skilled MCs out there. His real talent lies in his production skills and that has evolved from his classic soul inspired late 90/early 00s style beats to his current(over the past 3-4 years) multilayered and complex production style.

As far as his lyrics are concerned he really doesn't bring anything unique to the table. The presentation of his lyrics are just ok, not great or groundbreaking and his content is fairly basic.

He is an amazing producer, and if his ego is far too large to be the man behind the MC so he instead takes his awesome beats and his mediocre MCing and make albums. People listen to beats far more than lyrical content and thus he is able to be extremely popular because of this.

Very underrated album, one of my favs.

His new album came out recently and has good reviews across the board, can't wait to get it.

Yeah his flow does take some getting use to but when he does his rapid fire flow (don't know what he calls it) where it is rhymed with the next word it is classic. I bought his studio album and enjoyed it and will probably pick up his collab album sometime for Cunt Renaissance thanks Adub for that.

I have not heard any of his solo stuff but liked him in Sunz of Man and always meant to pick up his stuff but other releases keep getting in the way.

Alright here's my favorite hip hop albums of the year (I know there's a few coming out this month that'll probably make it too):

Curren$y - Pilot Talk 1 & 2
Roc Marcberg
Stong Arm Steady
Apollo Brown - The Reset
The Left - Gas Mask
U-N-I - A Love Supreme 2.0
Madlib - Medicine Show #5
Ron Contour & Factor - Saffron
Nottz - You Need This Music
Blacastan - Blac Sabbath
Hezekiah - Conscious Porn
Big Remo & 9th Wonder - Entrapment
Killah Priest - The 3 Day Theory
dumhi - The Jungle
El Da Sensei & The Returners - GT2: Nu World
Reef The Lost Cause - Fight Music
Panacea - 12 Step Program
JR & PH7 - The Update

Roc C & Soul Professa - SOULROC is sounding good so far.
Just got A.G. - Everything's Berri and it's pretty damn good, probably will make it too.
The new Joell Ortiz is dope too.

Seems like there might be a few others I'm missing.

edit...
Distant Relatives!!
And:
Celph Titled & Bucksot- Nineteen Ninety Now
Moe Pope - Life After God
Shawn Jackson - Brand New Old Me
Murs & 9th Wonder - Fornever
Little Brother - Leftback
Slum Village almost made it

Great list Machiventa. You have alot of albums that I wish I had that I will eventually get like: The Left - Gas Mask (probably will be first on the list heard alot of good things about this one), Blacastan - Blac Sabbath, Killah Priest - The 3 Day Theory (really need this one because I have most of his other ones), dumhi - The Jungle, Reef The Lost Cause - Fight Music. You also have some on my list for 2010 but will not spoil it. What didn't you like about this album: Slum Village almost made it because I have like all the Slum Village even the ones with only two of them.
