I have a Samsung Q1 MP3 player which is now full. I want to delete some files which are no longer required. I deleted all the files and My Pc confirms they have been deleted but my MP3 player continues to show them in the menu and my player remains full. I cannot replace the file with something new. I am receiving a message that the transfer has failed and I do not know why. I am not very good with computers and the instructions with the device is rubbish and doesnt help at all.

And if you try to delete files from the Q1's file browser?

I did not know you could delete from the MP3 player itself. How do you do this?

As I told you, you can do it from the file browser on the Q1. There is only one feature (delete files) so you cannot miss it.

I was working all night so have not been able to do this until now. I confirm that the two albums I wanted to delete have gone from My Pc and also the Q1 (which should mean I could replace those with something else). Unfortunately when I try to put on a new CD (having created a new folder) none of the ticked tracks will transfer and I get the message `failed to transfer files to the portable device`. I have tried everything I know of, but I cannot get a new CD onto the Q1

Maybe it would be better to format the whole memory

Have pressed the reset button but this did not clear the problem but the title of the CD I was trying to put onto the device came up on the device in my playlist (but there were no tracks on it). I tried to transfer files and I had the same report failed to transfer files to the portable device. I then tried to carry out your advice (to format) and I went to the menu and clicked on portable device. The `Format` box was NOT HIGHLIGHTED and therefore I cannot format the device. I am stuck

Tried to format from the computer (my PC Windows XP) - Format box not active so unable to do so. Formatted through the device (which completed successfully and all files removed). Then called up files on My PC and tried to transfer from My PC to the device. Nothing on My PC will transfer across to the portable device. There are no files on the device but they remain on my PC. This problem only started after I downloaded an update a few days ago.

Hmm probably due to this shitty MTP connexion mode.
There is an UMS tutorial but I don't know if it will solve the issue: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=39296

I have now solved it (with the help of my father). The only solution was to format the device (destroying all the files). Uninstalling the program and removing everything left in Windows Explorer. My father then started afresh for me (as if it were a totally new device). I have lost everything on the device but it is now accepting CD`s and allowing transfer. Fortunately I have never downloaded anything - I have all the CD`s so its been no more than a big inconvenience. Thanks for your help
