Not in the aspect that they're completely ripping off the average WESC and Skullcandy garbage. Guess that's a huge market. I wouldn't mind a phone with a fun design as long as the phone's functionality and SQ is still the focus and not just the looks.

Essentially, these, as well as Skullcandy, WESC and others, have the same issues as the iPod that we all hate so much. They are overpriced and aspire to being treated as fashion icons.

The sony buds in that second pic i have had for years and they have surprisingly great bass for buds, i still use them randomly when i want comfort and there's not a lot of noise around. If these new buds are anything like the older ones, as they seem to use the same or close technology they will be solid budget phones.

Seems they closed the backside vents on the new ones, so they get even bassier and boomier. The target demographic sure might appreciate that. The lacking strain relief sure isn't the best fashion statement, though. But who knows how they look in reality, the pics appear to be renderings, not actual product shots.

So, for how much more do they sell the tacky new ones compared to the old ones?


BTW; the boxy Dr. Dre lookalike cans look actually rather decent in all their 80ies-retro glory, except for the overuse of the red color.
