Is the X's UI similar to the A/S series..?

I.e. can I access all of an artist's songs, or a year's, album's, just from the now playing menu?

With the A series I can scroll down to the artist, album, year, and see all songs from each category and then either play a different one, or select the new selection for the now playing range.
It's a VERY handy feature and it would sell me on the X if that were the case...

The answer to your question is actually no!

I think other posters haven't understood your question properly, and just think you are asking whether it's possibly to browse these tags using the navigation menus.

On the X series you are NOT able to scroll down and select the same artist, album and year from the now playing screen as you can with the A series. You have to browse back to the navigation menus, or there is a button that allows you to quickly browse these tags:

Album
Artist
Genre
Release Year
Playlists
Folder

You are right and I am mistaken - I didn't fully understand the X's UI versus the A Series.

Im pretty sure all the menus with ALL the Sony Walkmans are pretty much the same, with minor differences with some models have FM radio/etc.
