Here is a new firmware for R1
Improvements (google translation): Update the boot and stability improvements, library Download firmware 3.06 For the moment (in 20min) I already got 2 "recovering firmware". Once when I tried to update manually the library (juste happened once) and once when I try to play a South Park movie I'm not sure "Stability improvement" has the same meaning in Korean? ... edit: many bugs and "recovering firmware", particularly in video playback. I advise you not to upgrade your R1 with this firmware

At least they are still doing firmware updates for the R1. Maybe my email to them (I wonder why they don't have a dedicated email address for support on the Samsung UK website...) regarding supporting ogg cover art for, like, any of their devices, won't fall on deaf ears. That's my one and only request...Please Samsung??

Your email is already in a trash somewhere
I'm sadly the single one who may have influence on firmware development. Regarding album cover support, probably for the same reason than for R0, it's technically impossible on the plateform they use.

I recently switched from 3.03 to 3.04 in hopes to solve the occasional loss of all my radio presets. It happens sometimes when charging for no apparent reason.

Eric,
I have the same problem. May I ask if the 3.04 Firmware upgrade fixed the problem (and / or did it introduce any other problems ?). Thank you Kevin |

Hi, I recently updated to 3.06 and now I find that most of my album artwork has been lost. Not all of it though, which is weird. Some of the albums still have their artwork. I did a re-sync via media player and, again, some artwork is present. Is this an issue anyone else has experienced with the 3.06 bug "fix"? I'd also like to know if I can revert to a previous firmware version? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
It's written in bold type in the 1st post "I advise you not to upgrade your R1 with this firmware" . I don't write this kind of things for fun. I could remove the download link but then people would say I'm dictating... I have not experienced this bug though. Maybe update library in the R1 settings could help for that bug. Yes you can downgrade to fw 3.04.

yep. thanks lebellium. I can't be told. I'll know to listen to you in future
![]() I guess I just downgrade in the same way? drop the file into the root? |

Yes, just put the ROM file at the root, disconnect, power on and then the R1 will downgrade/upgrade automatically.
Just make sure there is enough battery ![]() Oh and I also advise you to set it into MSC mode instead of the default MTP mode. (settings>system>PC connection). Then it will be recognized as a simple hard drive / usb key and you can drag&drop files. Sometimes that helps for the tag support. WMP sync is not the best way for that.

Hang on, wait.
I installed 3.06KOR (Yepp branded R1), because that was the latest version on the Samsung site. I haven't had any problems at all yet. Which is the best version to downgrade to? |

Bonjour Lebellium,
I have not lost the radio presets until yesterday when it happened. I have an "MP3 universal mains charger" so I recharge my R1 without using a PC. When I disconnected the R1 from the charger yesterday, I did not switch the charger off first. This may have caused the loss of radio presets. May I also ask - I am currently running R1 firnware VER 3.03 EU-00-JB1 (Touch45) release date 2010.02.05. If there is a later STABLE firmware, can you tell me how to download it please ? When listening to the FM radio, the player occasionally turns itself off completely. |

I'll check for the charger with mine.
The 3.04 is the latest stable firmware. You can download it in the sticked "All Samsung Firmwares" thread The 3.06 is meant to improve some things (booting and library update stability) but it often freezes in video mode so I don't advise to upgrade.

Hi.
Regarding the library update stability: My R1 crashes doing the library update. I tried every firmware from 1.15 to 3.06. Question: Can it be the hardware? Can it be the fact that I have 32 Gig memory? But: Even storing less than 16 Gig it crashes. Another question: What exactlly does the functionality "updating library" do? Is there any manual other than the superfical one you find on samsung website? Can I use my R1 without updating the library? I myself found one answer to that last question: If I use browser to transfer and find files, the answer is NO. Device does not find files using the browser if I do not make a "library update". Thankful for an answer to any of my questions, Ehrlich |

EH, I am sure that others here can answer your question in more detail. However, I do not recognise the term "library update". At its simplest, if I want to copy music files from my PC in WMA format, I plug in the R1's USB connection to my PC then using Windows Explorer, I use the "Copy" and "Paste" functions. I do not use Emodio (?) or any fancy software. Is this basic function does not work for you using "Copy and Paste" there seems something fundamentally wrong.

Hi.
The procedure you are describing seems to work fine untill you have more than just a few Gigabyte of data on your R1. But maybe it is a personal problem my R1 has. That is what I am trying to find out. Regarding the "library update": Goit to settings -> system -> library update. I dont know what it is good for and the manual does not tell you. I did not find any description. Anybody who knows? Thanks, Ehrlich |

Hi!
The "Update Library" Option is only visible if you set your PC Connection-Type to MSC. Otherwise the library is automatically updated after each change. - The Library update scans all Media-Files on your Player and adds the corresponding entries to Artists/Albums/Songs... |
