New Firmware 2.22 for P3!!!!!

No, you are not dreaming, 8 months after the f/w 2.20 release, Samsung finally released a new firmware!
I must admit that even for a Samsung Insider like me it's a big surprise!

Download Firmware 2.22

As you may guess while seeing the firmware version (only + 0,02), there are not big improvements, no gapless, no etc....
But this firmware fixes several video and music issues, that's better than nothing!

Improvements (google translation)
① not charge an error improves video playback
② MP4 video files, improved playback errors
③ WMV video files, improved playback errors
④ WMV, MP4 format video Subtitle
⑤ Lock Up problems playing certain MP3 files, improving
⑥ Tag information corrupted Ogg files specific to your error improvement

How to upgrade firmware: Download the firmware, extract the archive, put the YPP3.BIN file at the root of your player (the root is where all main folders are: music, video, system, pictures etc...), disconnect the player. Turn it on, it will automatically upgrade the firmware. You can check the firmware version in settings>system>about.

In fact I put it at the root but my P3 ignores it. Probably because the file is YPP3P.BIN and not YPP3.BIN. To upgrade with this firmware a recovery tool with direct access to NAND would be required

Totally awesome firmware update. I'm surprised myself samsung came with a new update. Has anyone noticed any improvements in the touch functionality?

I'd be really happy if it was a lot smoother. . .

No, touch is still in 6.C version, it does not change. In fact it is probably a hardware limitation as it is a lot smoother on the M1 with the nVidia Tegra chipset.

Personaly I now use the Masterpiece UCI which is smoother than the original interface

I got my P3 repaired yesterday from Samsung Tech Support (the touch screen non-sensitive areas problem). They have changed the touch screen and they said they have updated the firmware. I've already done that months ago to 2.20. But my P3 firmware version now says 2.20WA (Touch 6.D). I'm not sure if this new 2.22 will downgrade it to TOUCH 6.C.

I thought that touch versions depend on the firmware. But actually you are the second one here to have a 2.20 Touch 6.D...
I should make internal inquiry.

The question is: do you notice any change in touch performance?

If no, maybe the "C" or "D" only refers to hardware. All P3 may not have the same LCD screen. It's not unusual to change some hardware parts for economic or quality reasons during the production period

Hi lebellium,

I bought my P3 2 weeks ago from Amazon. The firmware was 2.18 (edit:2.18 something as I recall now) (Touch 6.D). After reading this post started to feel weird because it seems like not a lot of people have ever seen 6D.
After I upgraded the firmware (on first use, so I have no idea how does 6D feel), it changed to 6C. Thus, this shouldn't be hardware difference.
It would be really nice if you could extract that touch 6D from Samsung

Edit: I just downgraded to 2.18 and upgraded to 2.22, file from samsung.com, both has Touch 6.C (_ _") Now I regret that I upgraded firmware too soon to know if there is any difference from 6.D :-s

I just bought a P3 8GB with 2.18 US (Touch 6.D). Not upgrading it 'til I know there's no discernable difference about it and Touch 6.C.

You guys wanna see anything in particular about it?

I have the 2.22 FW (Touch 6.C) installed, and I have no issues or lag w/the touch screen - it rocks.

I changed the filename to YPP3.BIN and it updated normally until the end, where it displayed X Invalid Firmware. Tried switching it back on and got Please connect To USB and Update YPP3.RSC File.

So I placed the 2.22 firmware on it and it updated fine to 2.22.
