I have just found a simple workaround for the following problem:
Every 100th song uploaded is shown as "unknown artist/unknown album" (even when ID3 tags are all formatted correctly). The following workaround works perfectly for me, as I normally listen to entire albums (and have found it very annoying when it skips a song, because it's the "unknown" track). This solution is to use playlists, and requires one simple command-line tool: Tag.exe (available from http://www.synthetic-soul.co.uk/tag/ ) Copy tag.exe into the root directory of your Sansa, then save this as a batch file (e.g. SansaTag.bat).: Code:
tag --playlist --recursive * When you run tha batch file, tag.exe puts playlists for all mp3 files in each folder. For my m260 (V2 firmware, refurb) this works perfectly. I now just browse albums through the playlist menu. Only downside is that it now takes a few minutes to update the database (I have 100 albums on my m260). Hope this is of some help to someone. (PS. I tried several of the methods from http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Sandisk...3_players/m200 but some didn't work and some require MTP mode). Last edited by ted209; 04-29-2010 at 06:33 PM. |
