I only use my Clip for audiobooks and podcasts, they work great for spoken word.

Well, anything works for audiobooks, sound-quality wise. You could use the stock earbuds for that as well.

Jabra over-the-ear noise cancelling headphones that I got from woot, seem to be a clone of the Bose QuietComfort or some such (uses 1 AAA cell to power the NC). My 2gb v1 clip is strapped to the headband with velcro, with a very short wire going into the headphone electronics, so it's basically a completely cordless setup, no separate player in pocket. This is so nice that I seem to have stopped using my 16+16gb Cowon D2. I will probably upgrade the Clip to an 8gb Clip+ when I have a little bit of cash to throw.

There is no reason for people to be throwing out posts without reading what had been transpiring in the thread and creating a circle of stupidity, and arguing with admins on top of that is not a great idea.
Keep it on topic.

I cleaned the thread up, there was no need for all that. Back on topic, indeed.

I just bought these cheap Superlux HD668B cans, I'm loving them for home use, I have a fiio5 amp and sansaclip attached to them providing a wireless headphone experience =)

They are awesum and ridiculously cheap! Being compared often to cans of much higher price tags. Go here http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/sho...d-668b-483794/ and here http://www.headfonia.com/?p=2018 for more info.

Thank you very much bruce for the recommendation. It made me curious, so I ordered the HD668B from Thomann (for 29€!). When I first put them on my head I was quite sceptical but - WOW! They are really ridiculous good sounding headphones for the money they cost. They are actually on par with brand headphones which cost five or six times as much.... incredible!
Using rockbox I don't even need an additional amp to drive them with my Clip+... another great supplement for these cans is the rockbox crossfeed. It warms up their analytical sound just to the right amount (gives a very slight boost to the bass frequencies and a bit of treble rollof - which ideally fits the HD668B's sound profile). I can't even imagine headphone listening could get considerably better than with these cans and the rockbox crossfeed

Glad to help, I still find the volume a little lacking, I don't have my clip+ rockoxed yet tho (too scared!!). I may invest in a proper amp such as the HE arrow recently reviewed.

You really should try the rockbox! Recent builds are running quite stable and the bootloader is working fine with no bricks reported at all (since there was a public version).

Ok, this is off-topic, but since you have disabled PM, here's a quick instruction:
download both the files linked in the first post of the rockbox thread - the booloader and the rockbox build. The bootloader contains the file clppa.bin. Copy it to the Clip's root directory. Do the same with the .rockbox folder from the other zip file. When all files have been copied to the Clip, disconnect it. It shows the firmware update message. Turn in on again and rockbox will boot. Turn it on while holding the back-button to boot the original firmware (needed for usb file transfer). That's it. If you experience a crash with rockbox, you may need to hold down the power button for 15 seconds to reboot it. You can find the rockbox manual here. |

Highly recommended that you read the manual first. It also includes install instructions.
Do note that the Clip+ port is not yet stable. It is likely that the player will go down on you at some point. But it can be recovered from--no one is reporting a permanent bricking of the player at this point. |
