Is the X Series being discontinued?

the X series (32gb) costs 350 canadian with taxes here, so it much cheaper tha than the price in canada.

err it looks like the sony websites have removed the X from their sites, europe that is, except germany which has a special edition model only up.

either a new model is due, or perhaps nothing else going to show up for a while>

FYI, Slickdeals reports that Walmart has the 32gb X for under $300.

I dont see the A seies being a replacement of the x series.. My understanding is that the "A" 32gb will not be released outside of japan... so does this mean sony wont market a 32gb or even a 64 gb player ? i doubt it..

I expect there will be a replacement perhaps using android OS....something like SE X10 without the GSM etc but with the X sound qaulity.....

Top sound quality, androind market place.. now they are used to android it would be a quick win ..

I have not thought about such a possibility, but now that you are saying it, it actually sounds veeeery reasonable thing to do.

It's too early to speculate, the A series may be nice, but it is not flagship model.

Ok here are a few photos, I have exams so I could not do a full unboxing, anatomy takes priority unfortunately. But here are some quick thoughts since I started using the X.

When I switched headphones from EX82x on my A818 to the NC020 I also switched the ear buds to the small ones that I was using on the EX82s.

For some reason when I had the small ear buds on the X and the NC020s the player just completely lacked base, so I was wondering what was up. I decided to switch to the medium sized ones and the base returned.

I am not sure I like the heavier weight compared to the A818, but it feels solid the device and not cheap at all like the plastic looking A840 in the store. So I am glad I choose the X and not the A. I just hope for Sony's sake that they go back to a metal A series and not plastic.

The physical buttons are a no brainer and with the volume key near the top, blind operation in the pocket is quite easy, ie skipping tracks, play pause, and vol.

All in all so far, I am really satisfied with the purchase and hope sony does not release something stellar soon :P

@Ascariss - congrats on your purchase. I have had the Sony for almost 4 months now and am really happy with it. Get some really good headphones or IEMs and you will see the true potential of this device.
