Zune HD Firmware 4.7 Requests Thread

I hadn't tried connecting since I first got the HD.
I tried it again today and connected, no problem.
I don't know if I updated the firmware since trying it the first time or not.

So now I guess all I want is custom EQ and for songs to resume where they were when I shut the thing off.

It was short lived. It only worked once.
Now I always get the message: "Local connection only. Try again?".

I had problems with wirless too, try resetting the router, or restarting the zune (if it says dchip failure) or turning the wireless on yourbzune off and then on again., i had to change my password one letter at one point because it wouldnt connect for some reason.

Yea, Angus, definitely try resetting your router. This happens to me all the time because I have an old router and four different laptops now going through it...

But anyway, my reason for necroing this thread (sorry!) is because I just realized how lacking the playlists are on the Zune... I've never really used them before now, but it'd be really nice (and logical!) if you could remove songs from a playlist once you add them from the device.

The router belongs to the transit company, they probably won't let me at it.
I've narrowed it down to one bus and only in the morning. It has to be a problem on their end. I've been watching for other people connecting in the morning but haven't noticed anyone yet.

Sorry, I haven't used play lists at all. I just hit random and let it go.

Yup. I've been wishing ever since the Zune HD's release for it to gain some serviceable (or better) on-the-go playlist management. Being able to remove and reorder songs should be the bare minimum for a music-centric device. Alas...

Oh riiiiiiiight haha I forgot that this was about the buses... my bad.

But yes, normally I just shuffle it all, but I wanted to create a clean playlist to play around kids and whatnot, but realized that I can't remove a song that I found a couple f-bombs in without connecting to my computer, and I'm lazy...

anybody mention Replay Gain or something like it to level mp3 volume?

You want some sort of replay gain implemented in the software? Why not just use it on the computer to level your tracks before you sync it?

I use MP3 gain (my entire library is MP3 now). iPod and Sansa have some sort of volume levelling built-in. I have a Sansa Clip+ and the Replay Gain feature works very well. My understanding is this function is automatic in iPod/iTunes (never had an iPod so cannot confirm).
All player software on the PC does this, too (WMP and MediaMonkey are the 2 I use, in addition to Zune where I am not sure it levels playback but seems to).

It's not automatic in iTunes, you have to enable it. If you don't enable it in iTunes Sound Check has no effect on the iPod. Sound Check also has no effect if you load your iPod from software such as MediaMonkey.

I use MP3 Gain too. That way it doesn't matter which media or software player I use my music is levelled at 89db.
