Thats probably because people are smart enough to realize that apps are not part of the firmware, rather a seperate release system that has nothing to do with this update

We'll see how long it holds before the cries for V4.7 start to surface. I don't think I've seen a single complaint that V4.5 didn't come with any "surprise" apps/games... interesting.
I'm personally disappointed that there weren't more "secret" non-app, non-games features added with this update (you know, those other "exciting" items Dave said the team was hard at work on), but the little tweaks and bugfixes they saw fit to address are a welcome bonus. I'm not planning any immediate tantrums, though, since the device has fallen short of my desires consistently enough that I expected this amount of letdown.

Well, I thought that SmartDJ on the device (that didn't need a Zune Pass to work), Marketplace in the dock, substantial perf increases, browser fixes, a brand new 64GB SKU, no more ads before games, new codecs and a bunch of general bug fixes was pretty exciting.

But, I know it all depends on your point of view.

Cheers, Dave.

I think it is pretty damn exciting Dave. A big thanks to you and the rest of the Zune Team with all of the great fixes and new free features included in the update!

I personally think it's the Pink phones that will be revealed. I don't think it's about Project Natal with E3 coming up. But if it's the Courier, I'll cry in joy. I also cry if the Zune HD is announced to get Windows Phone 7.

Considering SmartDJ on the device, Marketplace in the dock, a new codec (singular), and the presence of bug fixes are all things we were aware of (and I was personally nonplussed about) when you indicated more secret and exciting things were in store, perhaps you can see how those secret other things (which are what I was referring to in my last post) strike me as decidedly minor.

Regarding the "brand new 64GB SKU": I don't consider the announcement of a new device differentiated from current ones only by a boost in capacity to be in the same category of updates as granting new features and functionality.

So, yeah, it depends on your point of view.

We all kinda saw this one coming. The Pink phones are no WP7 phones, but at least they will get Zune on them as well. Microsoft could have went with the Zune HD design instead of the turtle shaped phone.
