Default Do iPod chargers work with Sansa?

My brother has one of the square ipod wall chargers that has a usb port on the side. If I plug my sansa usb cable into it, will it safely charge my sansa?

shouldnt be any problems at all. 5 volts is 5 volts. Doesn't matter. It will work just fine.

No, it's close but they're not quite the same. Maybe if you shoved it in, it might it work.

BTW, thanks for the replies.

iPod and Sansa connectors use different pins for power, you will most likely fry your Sansa with an iPod cable.

He never mentioned anything about using an Ipod cable. He wants to plug his sansa cable into an IPOD wall charger with a usb port on it like this.

i realized that. i just wanted to make sure because a lot of people think that the sansa is compatible with ipod products... and probably end up shorting something

Why didn't Sandisk just make their chargers and the like compatible? It would be so much easier, and it might even benefit Apple because more people would buy ipod accessories.

Strange question, but let me try to answer - because Sandisk wants to make money, not make their competitors rich. Why would any company make a new audio player when apple already makes one?

If they made their chargers compatible, wouldn't it be a symbiotic relationship? People would be more likely to buy the sansa's if there were lots of readily available accessories, and it could increase publicity.

No. Just like iPod doesn't make money on iPod, they money on accessories. Sandisk is trying the same thing. If they will be successfull is another debate. And so you know, Apple like Sandisk, has their connector / pin-out patented so that anyone who makes a cable or accessory that uses the same connector with the same pin-out has to pay Apple.

If Sandisk made anything compatible with the iPod, Apple would probably sue them.
