Here are the photos i took of the Cowon V5. Feels more solid compared to the O2 with a slimmer design. The was kind of clever with a pop up cut out.

Waiting for the review also. Wonder if it is fast enough, I mean with the documents type it can open. Also do test the HDMI out, wonder what resolution and if its smooth

Don't forget to format it to exFat if you want to playback bigger 4GB+ MKV files.

I did it on mine, works great.

The highest H264 level I got to work was High 4.1. Haven't tried 4.2, but will soon.

how do you convert your cowon to exFAT? I am familiar with formatting to exFAT I just don't know what to do with my player after format?

PS I don't have my cowon yet (if it's partitioned with the main os on different partition just tell me it is so)

The OS is on a separate (hidden) drive

The reason being:

My V5 is a 16GB model, 14.94GB effective. I popped in an 16GB SDHC card, and it too shows up as 14.94GB effective (its less because of bytes and bits and all that jazz. Yay computer science!).

Secondly, they wouldn't want users to access the Windows portion of the V5 so easily (then Microsoft would get angry).

However, formatting to exFat can ONLY be done on a computer running Vista with SP1 or Windows 7.

Yeah, there's no comparison between the crappy O2 screen and the V5's. O2 has 130560 pixels, V5 has 384000, at almost the same physical size. The O2's looks like a 1980ies Pac-Man display compared to the V5's, which has so tiny pixels you can barely see them.

The other difference is that the V5 really plays almost all 720p videos (no matter if in MKV, MP4, AVI containers), while the O2's claimed 720p support was basically non-existent. Battery life on the V5 is also better, and it's a slimmer form factor. Firmware-wise they're both equally bad, no matter if usability or design. Actually, the O2 firmware has somewhat better features than the V5, but then again the handling of the V5 is better in other aspects - so it's pretty much on par.

The V5 might have a bit better contrast, but the color reproduction is basically the same (at the same viewing angles).
