I know youre an unsatisfied customer, in fact you never shut up about it. You dont have to be a fan boy to be happy with a product, if it satisfies your needs than thats all you need. I understand that you aint happy, but seeing as you are a "former" customer your complaining now does you no good, it just starts fights. There is nothing constructive in your criticism of the HD just attacks at the product, dave, and the company he works for. Dont you think if Dave could give all of us everything we want if he could? Logic would tell you yes, he however is dealing with finite resources and doing all he can for the majority of the owners of his product in which he has a sense of pride, and rightly so. I build everything from custom motorcycles to hard body scale R/C rock crawlers and take pride in them because I worked hard on them and im sure you much like Dave is no exception to this feeling. I agree that there is much more that can be done to exploit the prowess of the magnificent piece of hardware that is the Zune HD, To tell the truth i bought mine in the hopes It would get a jailbreak and I could run android on it. I bought the HD for the hardware: the processor, the screen and the beautiful form. Yea the software could be better, the truth of it is that the HD is still in the first iteration of its OS its going to be improved upon, to abandon the device this early in its product cycle is foolish. You really should give it time before screaming fail and becoming a die hard HD hater. Oh yea dont be talking badly about others who talk about porn when your sig suggests ass rape.

thats all

Bull

Oh yea before you scream fan boy at me check my sig

Would have been nice for all new purchasers of the 64GB to get the 4.5 straight out of the box with no requirement to download an immediate update - however not sure if MS could have met the requirements to have this for production and shipping deadlines to get to stores for the release date....

Is this a hint that the update is being released on april 12th?

I'm guessing the 6th or the 13th. Both are Tuesdays which is when the updates have appeared historically.

I know it is a little off topic, and I'm new to the forum, (Hello! Why is everyone fighting?) but I had a quick question. I am currently trying to decide if I should buy a ZuneHD. What are your honest thoughts. Should I wait for the rumored HD2?

Thanks,
Jordan

That would depend on your main focus of what you want the device for.
If you want a HUGE number of apps then you will want to look at the WP7. If you want it for a few apps, great music and amazing video quality then it's right for you.

You should decided exactly what you want it for and do some research on features and options and make an informed decision.

I have been doing ALOT of research. Listen. You buy an iPod Touch, why? For games. You buy a Zune for music. I want my music. I really care less about Apps, but hell, if there I'll get em. It's kinda like the bread they give you at resturants. I want my dinner (music), but yeah, bread (apps) is nice too. I have heard that the ZuneHD music quality is better than the iPod Touch's. Care to confirm? (:

Thanks,
Jordan

It depends on what you want. If you care about apps, then the Zune HD is not for you. As least not right now because the Zune HD hardware has a lot of potential. However, if you want an overall excellent media player with excellent music marketplace, then I would recommend the Zune HD. Comparing the Zune HD to the iPod Touch, the Zune HD beats the iPod at everything except for apps. As for the Zune HD2, we don't really know anything about it but most likely the Zune HD2 will be running Windows Phone 7.

Then I would suggest a Zune HD then for the whole media experience (audio and video).
The price and storage compared to the Touch is far better and then there is the Marketplace for the added benefit if you choose.

Exactly. Now, I have another question:

Microsoft. As we all know, the Zune HD, is being almost put on pause, AKA the production of apps, etc. etc. BUT. Does this mean they are focusing on something else in the works?

There are different departments. The WP7 department focuses on the phone and it has a build in Zune.
Then there is a Zune HD department solely for the Zune. It is still on going and being updated with new features. There is an update coming out in the next week or two with added features.

I wouldn't say the Zune HD is on paused but slowed down. Microsoft is focusing more on Windows Phone 7. The reason for this is pretty soon Windows Phone 7 will most likely be brought to the Zune HD2. I remember reading Microsoft merging the Xbox, Windows Phone and Zune team into one or at least the teams working together to integrate the products together.

Oh. Thanks! And I just wanted to say that this community is really awesome, especially for people in my situation, who are deciding (made my decision...totally getting one) whether or not to get one.

Has anyone used the Visual C# 2008 development environment to create an app here?

Dave,

So what you are saying here is, if one wanted to purchase an MS device that came with a heaping bucket of apps, one would have to buy a WP7 device which implies phone?

Cheers...

I'm pretty sure it'll be this coming Tuesday (the 6th). The last time Zune Insider had a demo of an upcoming firmware update, the release happened the following week.
