Can't tell if you're being an ass here as well or really don't understand, but to be clear, no thats not how this works. As Timar said above you only dither when you convert between sample sizes. Dithering an 8 bit MOD doesn't get you anything except a worse MOD.

Actually that makes me wonder if our playback engine is smart enough to realize someone is trying to do that and prevent them from screwing up . . .

edit: rate -> size mistake

Are many track already "crossfeed" when recorded, cause cross-feeding off, sounds better to me than any setting I can create.

Listening to some CCR, Suzie Q comes on, and the voice is soo hard panned to one side, its made nearly made me vomit, added some Crossfeed, Aahhh better....
But Green River sounded better with it off, as if they had already implemented it during recording, like dithering?

Have you read the manual at all? You may also want to try a Google search on crossfeed.

There is a wealth of information concerning audio available. You may also want to do some reading in the hydrogenaudio Wiki. You'll be a lot less likely to fall for the silliness of someone who decides to drop by and tryto feed you some crap.

@TANJENT: I've decided to move my answer to your question to the existing thread Crossfeed settings. Let's continue discussion on the rockbox crossfeed there.

Here's a new build: r28160M-100925-sansaclipplus (FS#9305, FS#11304, FS#11577-Meier)-dfkt.zip

Re-added FS#11304 cause I want to try some more with higher impedance phones. Added Bertrik's new crossfeed approach, modeled after the one used in Meier Corda headphone amps.

Yep, it's dfkt's custom build with several patches added (those in the brackets) he makes every now and then.

Works great, thanks.

Hey Tanjent: dfkt's latest RB build seems to include this stuff he wanted to try:

"Re-added FS#11304 cause I want to try some more with higher impedance phones. Added Bertrik's new crossfeed approach, modeled after the one used in Meier Corda headphone amps."

To answer your previous question, as I understand it, new RB builds happen constantly, either officially released by Rockbox or by folks like dfkt and others who have the facility to perform some coding to make sanctioned modifications to existing builds. These modifications may be of use to the general RB user community or they may not - it all depends on what each RB user wants/needs.

Does one really need to install and use every single RB build that is released? Certainly not IMO, but again, each user is unique. This is only one aspect of RB that is so great.

For instance, I utilize RB on 2 completely different mp3 players, but in fact, both of my own builds are "older", dating back to late July/early August of this year. There have been a slew of RB builds since that time. I have not undated to the "latest and greatest" RB builds because quite frankly the ones I have work perfectly and I feel there is no compelling reason for me to upgrade at the moment. Others may feel differently and that is all good. For me personally, I will of course investigate and update RB as soon as a new build is ready that includes features I deem vital.

Do read up a bit more on the basics of how RB works and how the overall process runs - it will help you a lot!

IMO, if you already have a perfectly functioning RB build installed, by all means, simply use it and get to know how RB works - learn the ins and outs/basics and just enjoy all the great stuff RB affords you. Once you progress further with your RB experience, you will be more easily able to determine for yourself how often you want to update RB. You will thus be much more capable of making better decisions re: Rockbox down the road. I have been using Rockbox religiously every day since installing it on my players and am still learning new things about how best I can use RB on a daily basis.

And don't forget to thank and support monetarily if you can the entire RB team. We are all so fortunate as enthusiastic end users to have them around, tirelessly working on this infinitely cool stuff for free.

hth and cheers,
-lestatar

Yeah i get why he added that, but what does it do?

I agree re: installing every update for the very reason you state.
I think I will just play with the build I have..

Has anyone added anything for MS1 users i wonder...
Can i view all rebuilds somewhere, maybe rockbox web site?

What does it do?

FS#9305
Gives you another option for display settings. You can choose not to activate display when pressing play/pause or volume. Saves you battery power.

FS#11577
New crossfeed setting, really nice.

FS#11304
Cannot hurt.

The rest is just "normal" RB build being developed constantly (not every change affects Clip+ of course.)
