The v3 bootloader in the first post is the current version I compiled (shouldn't need to upgrade that until maybe a newer version comes out), but if you also downloaded the firmware from the first post, you downloaded the current version directly from the Rockbox site anyways, not my build.

Oh, but where is dfkt's rockbox version then? And is it different than the one in the first post? (I'm sorry if this was explained earlier, but I can't really browse through 43 pages.. wait, I'll try a search)

I've been comparing the rockboxed sound vs the OF sound for two days now, and I can't really decide which one is better (haven't tried any enhancements or EQ yet). I think Rockbox sounds flatter, while the OF warms things up a little bit, which can be nice for songs with little instruments or pop, but for death metal it's a tad too much and then I like the Rockbox sound better.

What do you guys think?

You might be right about the Rockbox sound being flatter than the OF with no EQ enabled....because with dfkt's build on my Clip+, I can disable the EQ and my KSC75's actually sound quite good, and with the OF they tended to be a bit shrill and sibilant at higher volumes.

If all settings and volume matched are equal there is no difference, albeit I do agree that rockbox is better for all that it offers.

Rockbox certainly measures slightly different than the original firmware in RMAA, especially the channel crosstalk results are rather weird on Rockbox. Not to mention the original firmware is quite a bit louder. I haven't done any listening tests yet - those would be rather hard anyways, since I only have one Clip+, and auditory short-term memory isn't good enough when switching between stock and RB takes almost 30 seconds, or so. But honestly, I doubt there's an audible difference between the two - since Rockbox already sounds the same to my ears as any other player and my sound card.

I’ve seen how the RMAA test are different, are you saying that one can notice with volume matched tests? I doubt I can …

Sorry that I was not entirely clear. I wasn't actually talking about the bootloader but about the RB version. In the first post there's a link to rockbox-sansaclipplus.zip (currently r27820). OTOH somewhere else in the thread there's also a link to a dfkt build (r27626) which is what I installed on the Clip+ and currently am using.

Which is the one I should use?

Cheers wm

The link in the first post is dynamic - it is always the most current version. Whenever a new revision is built, this link is automatically updated.

The only practical difference between the most current version and the one I built are the two patches in my version. To the best of my knowledge, there haven't been any relevant changes to Clip+ Rockbox in the meantime, as far as user experience is concerned.

Until the FS#10906(pitch correction) is a part of the regular daily builds, I wouldn't even consider using them.

OK, THX. I'll stick with your version then.

(Let me add that I am quite impressed with RB. Thanks for all the good work.)

Cheers wm

After installing the Rockbox version mentioned in http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/sho...&postcount=765 my setting to announce the battery level if it falls to 50% or less, instead of referring to the battery level it erroneously mentions the disk capacity level.

I see that the mention of 1.1% slow playback for V2 Clip/Fuze/Clip+ is gone form the "Specific Problems" list.....so is the FS#10906 now incorporated in the current builds?

Sure is. Anytime you see AMSv2 here it affects the Fuse V2, Clip V2 and the Clip+.

Possibly hasn’t been updated to work with the latest build or you are running an older build. Did you report that to the admins on rockbox, don’t forget to include your build number. There's a spot on the bottom of the page here to do it.
