Woo, it's been a while since I checked out Rockbox's Clip+ status. I'm blown away by the coolness of the interface and the many nice options. Finally I can play my progrock/-metal gapless!

Jelbo, I just picked up a Clip+ OF V01.02.09A and it's rocking the gapless. My definitive test album, Between The Buried And Me, Colors (Desert Island 10 album FTW!) which is notoriously rough on players, code, and codecs rolls oh so smoothly. Including, Informal Gluttony-to-Sun of Nothing with the gorgeous rolling drums spanning the two tracks.

I followed the instructions in this thread, and in Rockbox's manual, six-guns blazing, and have the little fella dual-booting. I'm switching back and forth between Rockbox and OF for fun and for casual comparison. (Going from a Zune 80, all the Rockbox settings are a little intimidating.) Gapless is fine on both. I've ripped eleven of my favorite high-quality recordings, and so far the only one I've had trouble with is Katatonia, Great Cold Distance (slight crackle in right channel only :-/ between tracks) but this could be the mastering. I'd have to take it to my friend's studio, which I may do, and analyze it with a rectu... spectral analyzer.

@ ABI folks: I'm loving the Clip+. Thanks to everyone on this thread and dfkt's tips and words of wisdom.

I took the time to read the Rockbox manual and customise my Clip+ with themes, EQ settings and playlists I like. No glitches, no crashes and upwards of 12 hours playtime:

It's called YellowBarDynamic - it changes to show other information also ie playlist, battery level etc. I like it because it shows the number of times I've played a track.

When I am on the Original Firmware and I switch my Clip+ off the "Goodbye" message displays for 20 seconds before the player finally switches off. Is this normal?

argh, the rockbox site is never down when it's convenient. I hope that it's in full swing by this summer, because the queueing is something I plan to use so I don't have to constantly tend to my player. I haven't been able to update my build in like 2 months, so I'm still read only, and I really want to test the stability of these later versions. Anybody know an alternate mirror?

The download site is actually a bunch of mirrors, so they should still work:
