Of course. Microsoft is in total control of Zune owners. That much has been obvious from day-1. But if Microsoft wants to differentiate their proprietary closed ecosystem from Apple's, then simple good-will gestures like publishing the changes simultaneously with the update makes sense and doesn't cost anything.

But I'm not surprised by your response.

This is not an unreasonable request. I'm working on seeing what I can do.

Cheers, Dave.

Really? Thanks! I remember you did this for 4.3, and it was quite helpful.

No need to work in it, Dave. Just see what you can do.

While you're at it, pass along the idea of releasing a few great apps/games the same day the firmware comes out. Make one an E-mail app and I might start recommending the Zune HD to friends again.

Since when has Microsoft wanted to differentiate themselves from a proprietary closed ecosystem?
I don't mean to make that statement sound insulting, but Microsoft's aim was never to differentiate themselves from that. What made you think the opposite? o.o?

Don't most people use their cell phone or computer to send emails? I would rather have an app that stores phone numbers!

A lot of people can't afford the hefty monthly costs that come with a smart phone and computers aren't that portable.

Me though, I really could care less about apps, I just to be able to connect to the internet. wpa enterprise please!!

Translates to me as Sherbet = updates of all kinds not just firmware and updates hopefully in 4 month intervals.

Or (this could be a long-stretch) a batch of apps being ready to release every 4 months or a combination of that with your proposal? That would be pretty awesome.
