However, what does matter is the amount of isolation you get from your headphones. If, say, you're walking on the street, with good isolation, you'd receive and perceive pretty much the same amount of sound. However, with poor isolation, while you'd receive the same amount of sound, but perceive very little.

About the possible hearing damage: go here and go to the part 15, where you will find a couple of links to various studies about hearing damage caused by headphones.

JVC flats came in. listening now! Sounds much louder than my MDR-V150 sony's. the bass int as grindy. I will keep this thread open for my second, home purchase. this is my portable pair for on the road and go. since my sony's were uncomfortable for me for long durations. those will become my pc listening pair for gaming or watching vids while the hubby is asleep.

Now that you have had them for a few days, are you happy with the flats? I think that for the price they sound pretty good, but everybody's ears are different. They worked well enough with my Clip+ that I thought the Fuze would also work well with them.

They work great on the fuze, however there is one problem.

the midbass gets a drastic cut when I am riding in the car. might be the engine noise counteracting it or something. my sonys did drive the midbass better when riding in the car, however when I was riding in the car the sonys would loose the vocals and mid treble more. so I guess its a fair tradeoff.

I will write a review later further explaining this.

I do have to say they are 15-20% louder then my sony's! That's a definite plus!
