I am at a loss for the sansa fuze 8gb; couple of issues here. I am only showing 2gb internal and external when viewed through my computer. Upon power on, I get the flash screen and it shows connected,
then it goes to an error screen which states," FAT is corrupted. Please connect device to PC and recover FAT". Then it shuts down. I tried to factory reset(holding the on slider up for 20seconds), and it worked or appeared to reset it;still same result, tried reformatting both internal and external drives with windows(can not access internal menu), both formatted but still same error. I do not know what to do, I am using vista and the main unit still is not recognized as sansa fuze only as removable disk drives. The updater, (what a piece of....) never finds the fuze or any updates for it. I am not able to access the menu on the Fuze either to change modes or anything. Any suggestions would be greatly mind easing and helpful, thank you in advance ![]() ![]()

Did you format the drive with Windows or did you format it with the Fuze?

Try scanning the Fuze with the error checking thingy in Vista. That worked back in the day with my Sansa E200 player

If recognized by pc and you do CHKDSK like eboyer93 stated, I would also re-firmware.

Just download the latest version, should be in the fuze forums, un-zip and paste to the root of the player, disconnect and let it update the fw (don't touch any buttons during the update), you'll know when it's done from it's screen.
Edit: found link http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=41988 if you know your way around a pc, don't mess with the updater, it sucks and there's instructions there for manual update too ...

If you don't watch videos, then I would recommend the .26 firmware for the Fuze.....for the audio-only user, that firmware is rock-solid, and you won't have the silly SlotRadio icon on your menu, or the EU volume limiter.
That firmware does have a video glitch though, so if you watch them, then go for the newest firmware.

I do not have any way to access the root of the player though, the player is only recognized in the device manager

Edit: Is it connected in msc mode, that would be the only way.

Read from "MSC mode instructions" on that link above, that's manual method and yes the root is the drive, you should see it on the left pain of win exp, gives you the new drive letter there too.

This might sound stupid, but did you un-zip the fw first? and are you sure you connected in msc mode?
