Best EQ Setting for bass?

Hey guys, this is my first post but have always been browsing this forum for a bit of time now. My question is that I recently purchased a Sony Walkman and am wondering what the best EQ setting would be for highest quality bass without obviously sacrificing all the other sounds of course.

IMHO there is not best EQ setting, it’s what sounds best to your ears. BTW welcome to abi

WalkGood is right, of course, but a good place for you to start your experimenting is with the Clear Bass adjustment.

Depends on your earphones. Some earphones are very bass heavy (like the hippo vb) and are best with the eq on normal.

Some have recessed midranges and will suffer more with increased bass. Thus the best setting for those type is the heavy setting (my favorite).

But if you have headphones that are more midrange forward then just up the clear bass up a notch or two (depending on how much bass your headphones have). Never turn the clear bass up to the max though (the quality reduces significantly).

Lastly, be careful. Some headphones distort when the bass is increased too much (like the se530). So there is no definite answer as it depends on what headphones you have. Next time tell us what headphones you are using for us give you better answers.

If I were you I would get the hippo vb (they're awesome) and keep the eq on normal. I'm still burning in mine though.

I got the Monster Beats Headphones. Just wondering what everyones personal opinion would be

On my E345, I use the "Edit equalizer" settings, and the only things I adjust are the clear bass (+1) and the two far right sliders (6.3 and 16khz) to +1 as well to compensate. IMO, this boosts the bass a bit without muddying the sound.

I'm listening through a really basic pair of over-the ear headphones (Sennheiser) and via minijac to my audio receiver. Your mileage may vary.
