One of the things im really excited to see is Microsoft's Courier. MS has yet to acknowledge this device, but Gizmodo recently got a leak of the device- though im wondering if this was an intentional leak.
Having a pen in addition to multi-touch i think would feel much more natural and easier to get work done. iPad might be more entertainment centric- this Courier seems to be more work centric. Here are the three links to the Gizmodo leaks to get the full info: http://gizmodo.com/5365299/courier-f...-secret-tablet http://gizmodo.com/5370223/courier-t...e-by-microsoft http://gizmodo.com/5369493/leaked-co...ctually-use-it ![]() |

At this point, even the iPhone is an iPad killer...
But yeah, I saw this on Gizmodo too, really looking forward to it!

Looks fantastic. The folding book style displays the sort of innovation I think a lot of us were expecting from Apple's tablet, before they revealed it was a peewee herman iphone. Does anyone know if this is capacitive with an electric pen or resistive?

I´m not sure if tablets even have anything to kill in them? :P Sort of hollow lifeless promises that have yet to live up to anything.
But yes, Courier is the only other thing at the moment thats even worth considering as far as tablets go. Letting go of computer originated OS's is the most important thing people should be developing tablets for. Not a big fan of the 2 screens though, I would of liked a wide screen slate that could function like the courier in landscape mode, and maybe have a "Panel" switcher button when in portrait mode. Imagine carrying arround a clip board vs a binder? Thats a boiled down comparison of the two, which would you rather bother carrying arround? |

Isnt this news a bit ... old ?
At CES Bellmar said he didnt even know of this thing yet. And your links link to giz at Sep 29, 2009 .... Everyone thought Bellmar would reveal it at CES but instead he just showed another (HP) tablet with Win7. Quite a let down though the iPad wasnt any special either ... Now Ive got 400 bucks and cant spend them on a slate/pad/tablet

Well theres still mobile world congress... Which would make more sense to release it on that event, considering its after Apples reveal. Now that the Apple reveal has been somewhat luke warm, Microsoft should be feeling pretty good about themselves if the courier is anything like that video device.

I have a tablet laptop (tactile keyboard, resistive screen) and I find it really useful for arty designy sort of things, I wouldn't want a computer I couldn't draw straight onto.
I think the benfit of the dual screen is it could be used as an old school laptop with a touch screen key board. Hope it is capacitive though, would be missing a trick if not...

This is clearly for work. Be it art work or journalism. It's like a research tool.
It would also be a good way to take notes. |

Looks quite nice although, as Jacob said, it seems more work oriented, not that there's anything wrong with that. It'd be a great tool if done right.

Oh it looks amazing. If I had a need for this, it would be this hands down. It's like a more portable tablet. And no doubt it will sync with OneNote.

Undertake, first off, welcome to ABI.
Not too sure if you realized that you bumped a thread over one year old and the Courier is no longer in Microsoft's horizon. I am debating to close this thread.
