Hiss also has to do with the production of the song. Sometimes, small noises get captured, especially if you are listening to music that was recorded on analog equipment (in other words, anything old). Could also be compression as someone else mentioned. Maybe even cable noise, but the hiss should not be a problem if you keep it turned under full volume.
I tend to keep the volume about 5-10 clicks up, depending on where I am.

Noting like a good potentiometer going from zero to whatever, so you can have exactly the volume right for you hears. |
