I just bought a new S9 off Ebay. It was advertised as "factory sealed".
It arrived without any sort of "sealing"; I was able to open it without "unsealing". Just a box which slid into a "sleave". No shrink wrap, no sealed plastic "shell", nothing like that. I suspect that is the way they are shipped from Cowon and the seller just didn't understand what "sealed" should really mean. My only concern is that the unit could *possibly* be re-furbed, although I'm pretty confident that it is not. Any way to tell this for certain from the serial number?? Boo |

I think that's what the factory packaging should look like. |

The packing you describe is how mine also came, and I bought mine from a store. So I think you should be fine. You might want to tell the eBay seller to not use "factory sealed" though. That's quite misleading I think.

Thanks you guys..... I think the EBay seller may not even KNOWN what the packaging would look like..... (S)he is apparently a re-seller of some sort, as even though (S)he's on EBay as a private seller, the unit was shipped from Amazon.com Thanks again..... BTW, I bought a P3 about 4 months ago..... This S9 kicks it's butt!! (IMHO) Boo |

mine was the same, although it did have a circular transparent plastic sticker thing to seal one part of the package.

Cowon doesn't shrink wrap any of their DAP(at least none of the 10 different models I've had). Sometimes they do have a small sticker covering the tab on the opening end.
