I bricked my P7 tonight with it appearing as a USB drive only. I tried to follow the MP4Nation guide (linked below) to try and unbrick it but this did not work.
http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewt...hp?f=43&t=8488 However, I finally tried something different and now I've successfully fixed it using the following steps: 1. Follow the MP4Nation guide and rename the P7K.hex firmware file (from http://nyaochi..sakura..ne..jp/iriverupdate/ ) to P7K.rkw. Continue restoring until it fails. It will try to restart the player and ask you whether to wait for the player to start or not. Answer "no" to this (as it will never start and repair will fail) 2. If you go to My Computer, you will see 2 removable drives. Try to find which one is the smaller one (formatting both as FAT32 will give you hints). Then unzip the desired firmware update (I chose 1.37) into this smaller drive (it should have a number of directories inside). 3. Safely remove the P7 and restart 4. The P7 should boot normally now. Open up iriver plus 3 and do a reinitialization. 5. Enjoy your resurrected P7 ![]() The only things I've lost is the mp3, avi, and pictures that originally came with the P7 I wonder if I can grab them from somewhere

Actually, you may unpack this hex file and copy the unpacked four folders to that smaller partition:

Thanks QuantumKnot and Dennis Hawks, combining your posts got my P7 working again on fw 1.28.
My P7 bricked on fw 1.40. When I plugged it into my laptop the screen flashed white a few times and then went completely blank. I also noticed crackling in 1.40 so it's nice to be back at 1.28. |
