Hi,
I need a player to fill the gap between now and probably May, maybe later while I wait of the M1 or Viliv P3 to come out. I've been considering a 16GB Samsung P3 for £100, but I just can't quite bring myself to spend so much if I'm only going to use if for half a year. I was wondering what might be a good option here. Apparently the Sansa Fuze, Clip or Clip+ are decent. Which one of those is best? Any other ones I should consider? I need 16GB space but apparently the Sansa players have microSD ports, am I correct? Thanks guys ![]() Jack

I would reccomend one of the Sansa e200 line. They have good battery life, are cheap on amazon, and enough memory for half a year. Plus microsd slots

You might want to look for refurb players, I've had good luck with them and they appear to be new. BTW, 2 of mine are now over a year old and still ticking and the price is right.

I still have my e260 running great, but I wouldn't recommend buying one as that would definately be used, where as the fuze or a clip seem to come like new. I think these are fixed players that were returned in "like new" condition and can not be sold as new, thus refurbished.

As a temporary player, do you really need 16GB? If not, locating an inexpensive Clip may be the best choice. If you need 16GB, choose a Fuze of Clip+. Do you want a player that will clip to clothing (or wherever) while you are active, or is a larger screen/larger body/longer battery life more important? Your choice. There is no wrong choice picking one of these as a temporary player. Steve |

Thanks for the advice guys.
I would like a refurbished model if I could find one, but I don't know where I can look. I saw a used P3 on ebay which was only £40 which I shouldve got, but its ended now which is a shame. It doesn't have to be 16GB internal, as I do have an 8GB microSDHC spare. Do the fuze and clip have intergrated internal/external lists for artists and so on, or not? I don't need to clip it to anything; a larger screen would be preferable. Battery life isn't really and issue because I'll use it for around an hour each day and can charge it every night if needed. Cheers

Refurbs and discontinued overstocks usually come in quantity, so if a source on ebay only has 1 available, it's probably just used.
Online sites for overstocks include Froobi.com, overstocks.com, buy.com, ubid.com. I don't know which of those have a presence outside the US (since you mentioned "£40") |

What about P3 vs R1, for which I can get a 16GB model for just £75. Anyone tried them both and got a preference? Or just tried one and think its rubbish lol? Thanks guys

I think you should get a Fuze. It's cheap, it has microSD expansion, and it's pretty reliable.
I've been using my Fuze as somewhat of a replacement player for almost a year now (my P2 broke, and then my D2 broke as well ) and I love it. The Clip and Clip+ is also good players, but they don't have as much functionality as the Fuze and also has a smaller screen.

What about resale value? I reckon if I also bought a cheap silicon case of the P3 making it £110 I would probably be able to get £65 or possibly a bit more in an as-new condition, whereas I almost certainly wouldnt be able to sell back the fuze or clip, even if they were as-new.
Any thoughts?

agreed. this way, you could always still use your Fuze as a back up player, or a gym player.

Cheers for all your help guys. You've got a great point there FreeZ5; keeping it would defo be a plus.
Thing is trying to convince my school boy cravings for new stuff that I should save my money now and wait a little bit is proving very difficult lol, especially considering I am at school! Anyway I'll post if I make a decision, whenever that might be. Thanks again

I'd recommend getting the P3 at that price - its sound enhancements are worth it alone.

DNSe3 enhances the sound - on top of the regular equaliser (and the additional master EQ) you have various presets and customizable 3D, Bass, Concert Hall and Clarity.
Literally hundreds of combinations it lets you tweak the sound to your liking depending on genre, your phones etc. Arguably the best sound enhancements available on DAPs today (although some Cowon owners would disagree). Personally I rate it better than Cowon's or Sony's offerings, and I've tried them all. I paid a lot more than £75 for my P3 almost a year ago and it's one player I've kept.
