I was just on GenerationMP3. It said the Cowon J3 was just released in Korea. Few details. 4, 8, 16GB. Tuner DWB. Wifi. Same AOLED screen.

hmm, I google searched for the J3 on google, and it looks really nice

anyway the top article states that Cowon has lots of "marketing blunders", how is this a "blunder" ?

Looks like Cowon might be planning to release the wifi enabled Cowon S9 with a memory card slot which some of us have been hoping for.

Well my interest is piqued. Guess it doesn't take much, Cowon + memory card slot seems to be enough ;P

Havn't really been feeling all too excited about the stuff Cowons been releasing recently, not since the D2 in any case.

Interesting, now why can't they do this on a player like the i9, as I could care less if it plays video or has bluetooth ....

Wow, three weeks after I buy my S9.
I thought they wouldn't announce anything just after the holiday season. Now that I've heard about this, I'm almost crossing my fingers that this rumor is wrong, so I don't regret my decision.

That seems like a tiny screen for web browsing...or do you mean expandable memory?

You know how many rumors about their players have come out over the years, even if it’s true, I wouldn’t expect this out for a long, long time ... enjoy the s9 and don't think twice ...

It’s not as small as my i7 … I could care less about web browsing on a mp3 player … all I want is great sq flash memory player with their JetEffects, 64GB and if that’s not available a 32 with the expansion slot. A DAP, not PMP …

I was hoping for a D2 replacement. But it sounds interesting, at least it brings expandable memory to something in the high end range of Cowon products. I was disappointed that the S9 didn't have a card slot.

Already have an s9 so this isn't something i'd be interested in. The addition of wifi and and memory slot are not a biggie for me to update the player.

I'd sure like to see photos of one. The Zune HD proves a 3.3 inch screen can be useful for a web browser. Hopefully there would also be more on the J3 to take advantage of the WiFi. An S9 with a few detail refinements and the added WiFi could be a Zune Killer if not a Touch killer. They would need an apps and music store to go there.

What kind of browser is the j3 going to have if it expects to compete with those other players?

is it webkit based? firefox?

only one I can think of is opera mobile 10.

i dont know why a company like cowon who has a priority for sound quality, never put Line-out , its why i never sold my ipod touch even though i dont like it besides its line out and wifi

This is very interesting... if it turns out to be pretty inexpensive, might be an alternative to a Zune HD.... wonder if the browser will support slacker streaming... or if a flash app can be made...

Can I point out that there is absolutely no evidence this will have wifi or an sd card slot?

What we know:

3.3 inch AMOLED screen
Plays videos
Bluetooth headset support
Accelerometer
Jet Effect 3.0

Oh, and the rough shape of the back of the device based on what could be a very early design concept.

The rest is speculation.

Nope. It could be a replacement for the D2, which makes a lot of sense since it stands out as being a bit dated in their line up.

Or there could be some other new feature no one has guessed at.

EDIT: Would love it if it was line-out as mentioned above, but sadly I doubt that. Optical line out would be supurb, but even less likely.
