Online Zune Apps Created

I have decided to take the issue of lack of apps into my own hands.
So I created Online Zune Apps!

Right now I have a fully functional account system along with a few apps:

Texting (Need area code)
Calender (No scheduling yet but will be added)
Notepad (Just a personal notepad, Must have an account and be signed in)

I also am working on a Contacts app

Please try it out and let me know what you think. It uses the same navigation as the zune.

If you have any reasonable suggestions for apps please let me know.

I am also looking for a better font to use.

Just to let you know, the notepad doesnt display a text box

This is an excellent idea. Way to think outside the box! As far as fonts go, I'd recommend using something sans-serif to better match the Zune interface. Does anyone know what kind of font support the Zune browser actually has?

wait....you can use these on the zune right now? anddd......this wont violate our privacy or anything will it? like someone'll get out number and use that in some malevolent way to learn about us and stalk us and then murder us in our sleep? annnddd....can anyone else read the texts??

Thanks for the responses. To use the notepad you must create an account (just a username and password). If you are not signed in you will not see the text area.

I will try out the sans-serif and see how that looks on the zune browser.

No no one can see any text but you.

As far as the text messaging part goes, there an easy (at least i think it is) way to expand it. All you need to do is find the carriers that have a email for the mobile numbers (ex. 1234567890@vmobile.ca) and use a carriers dropdown box to determine what carrier carrier email to add onto the end of the phone number.

Layout:

To (Textbox)
Carrier (Dropdown box)
From(textbox, email or number)
Message(textbox)
Characters left counter


Also a shorter url would be a bit easier, but i guess once it gets favourited, then that doesn't matter too much.

Thanks for the suggestion, but as you are posting that i am working on just that. Right now I am having friends I now text my E-Mail so i can find out the @mobilethingy.

And for the characters left counter does anyone know if 140 would be a safe number.
I have seen some phones carriers allow up to 180. The lowest I have seen is 140.
Just don't want to cut your messages short

If the carrier has an email address for your number, then yes. Works with mine, and i have seen lists of carriers that have them. Both American and Canadian.

Just a few more suggestions.
- shorten the php file names (cal.php, txt.php, etc...)
- don't forget Canada with the txt part (Bell Canada, Rogers, Virgin Canada, Telus, Fido)

Seriously about the Canada part, I'm tired of not being able to access things just cuz I'm a bit more north...

Updated the texting app with some of the suggestions.

1.You can know text to an E-mail
2.Can text to more then one carrier(Verizon,AT&T,Virgin Moile USA and CA)

I will add more carriers based on what people need just tell me if you need one other then what is there.

And for the shorter URL names, Is there a reason? I was thinking about it myself but can't find to good of a reason.

I can help you out with with making it prettier with optimized graphics. I'd also think a app directory that links to facebook, gmail, google reader, etc.'s mobile sites would be nice. I have tons of ideas if you want to use them.

So when you say apps directory could you give me a structure of how it would look afterwards?

It would look like this... and I could provide you graphics to make the rest of it pretty for people. This whole idea could be a whole site. It's on a really long URL right now. For the apps directory maybe people could even customize their list based on a list of stuff for them to choose from.

Like Cruleworld said, links to mobile sites. Mobile msn/wlm would be good, both ebuddy and mim.live.com (my personal preference).

Edit: I tried the Virgin Mobile Canada about 5mins ago, and still nothing.

Edit2: When you scroll to the right, you see random blue and green pixels, anyone else seeing that?

For now I will add a "sites" link on the front page to access a few mobile sites

As for graphics, It would be great if you could make some. I would ask that they be JPG and low on size, I still want the site to load quickly.

For the long URL: Right now I am just using my family's server to host it. If this project becomes anything I will buy one. But until it takes off I sticking with my families
