16GB maximum and no expansion slot? Super lame.

Furthermore, I wonder what they mean with "MKV" support - I have yet to see any player that plays anything above the most primitive baseline profiles 480i/p AVC/Vorbis/etc in an MKV container without hiccups.

And what is "Wifi" anyways? I know people absolutely need their audio/video player to have that catchphrase/fad nowadays, but what does it do on the player? Will it have a web browser as horrible as the Sony X, or will it be even as utterly useless as on the older Zunes? Or will it be useful, like on the iPod Touch?

Interesting that they took the worst part of the S9, the wobbly back plate, and implemented it the other way around. Good thing it has a standard USB port.

I see what I think to be tactile volume buttons on the side, that one iPod trademark button in the middle (which hopefully can act as play/pause), and a power button on top. That's not much, but better than the other current Samsung or Iriver players with zero useful buttons.

Oh, and the battery life is more than pathetic.

The front button is no doubt a "Home" button. It's possible it could have app-related funtionality and use a double-tap to go home, but that would imply iRiver is thinking forward and not back. No sign of that yet. And no evidence of a browser in any of the photos.

Still, it's a refreshing break away from their cubist brick designs.

Yea, sorry iRiver... the Viliv P3 looks more appealing at the moment... but if you take down the price and give us better battery life.... (assuming it makes it to the states)

my biggest concern with the viliv p3 are, 1.what will be the sound quality be like, if it was cowon or iriver it'll be top notch audio quality. 2. will it have a custom gui/uci for android. the stock one is bland. 2a. will it be only android 1.6 or will see some upgrades to 2.0, 21.1? 3. will they use there software to handle media playback or use android, heard android wasn't the greatest for media playback. besides that i really like what i see from the p3 amoled screen 3.7 inch 800mhz cortex a8.

I can't see much sense in trying to surf the web on a PMP. But the Wifi access can actually be quite useful, if it will allow me to play Shoutcast streams or listen to Pandora.

Technical demerits aside, that is actually one sexy-looking player!

very tempted to import like I did with the P7 but I am gonna hold off till it released in the West or HK/China. I think the P7 was released in the states about 3 months after Korean release so it shouldnt be that long.

I am not gonna bother with the Wi-Fi version as I will never use it. The UK has lack of free hotspots so even surfing at train stations etc is a no go.

The Edu version may be an education version capable of displaying textbooks. .EDU is the normal extension for school and university web sites. In fact if you scroll down on the info page you'll see things like:

Colins CoBuild Advanced Leaders Dictionary
Colins Thesaurus A-Z
Colins CoBuild English Usage for Learners.

All listed for the EDU version.

MicroSD is also listed in specs below that section, but the image they show (higher up) of a card inserted is obviously NOT of the K1.

Hopefully Iriver will enable External Memory to combine with Internal like on the P7.
