I have a x1060 with updated firmware. Now I have tried the line out on several things, it does not seem to work. I am sure I used to get a sign at the top of the player when I used the line out cable, I dont get that any more.
Has anyone else had issues with this? At the moment I am wondering where my receipt is... |

I've got the same question. The SonyStyle store show only the typical headphone to RCA cable, and nothing using the dock connector. Is the cable you're using from an older Sony? Maybe THIS dock? The dock manual does show it with a line out even though it's not tapping the headphone jack. Suggests a line-out dock port cable is possible. I wonder if Sony has done what Apple did, and requires a decoder chip in any device to tap the dock port. A firmware update could have disabled a 3-rd party cable that didn't have that licensed chip. This exact same thing happened to me with my iPod Touch.

Sorry I forgot that I posted this.
Doesn't the cable come with all X-Series? It connects into the vm port on one end and has the headphone jack on the other. Says its a line out cable in the manual... |

Hmm I think I might be confusing the line input cable with a line out.. I was sure I read it as line out. What is the use of line in?

The included cable is a Line-in cable. It's so you can use the X as a Noise cancelling processor for other sources. The OEM headphones are required.
