Default There IS an inline remote for the HD!!

I posted this on the "Ask Dave" thread, but I still see people posting about it so I'm making an easier-to-find thread to spread the word.

For the record, the Zune HD _DOES_ have inline remote support.

I purchased the dual connect remote and it works brilliantly.

Hmmm...was working yesterday.
It's the "Dual Connect Remote" that comes in this travel kit:

I assume you mean that you have the same remote as Erickbernal27 in the thread that I put a reference to this thread. In that thread (http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50984), gamersat678 mentioned that volume is controlled by a voltage or current drop in the headphones. If that's the way they work, those headphones may still not work, or may work intermittently (as you are finding) since they Zune may have a different tolerance range which may or may not sometimes overlap.

But the inline remote mentioned at the beginning of this current thread are made for Zune and work fine.

I had a problem with my dual connect remote not working this morning. I rebooted the ZuneHD and the remote started working.

So I decided to order one and just received it only after 3 days!! And it works beautifully with my 80 (don't have a ZHD). I can't believe I never knew about this thing. In fact this will save my 80 from an earlier death because in my extremely dry climate I've gone through 3 Zune 80's due to static shock causing the HDD to fry.... now I won't risk shocking the touch pad because I won't have to touch it.

I have a question for anyone who has used the Zune Dual Connection Remote. Once it's plugged into the Zune, can you still get audio out of the player or do you have to plug your headphones into the remote?

I mountain bike and I'd like to keep my Zune tucked safely into my Camelbak, have the headphones run straight from the player and have the remote run out to a shoulder strap.

You can still have audio play through the Zune's jack or one of the jacks of the remote but you cannot control the volume of the media if it is in the Zune's jack.
On another note, depending on which Zune you use, the remote does work with the Zune HD but you have to be careful. You cannot have any media before you plug in the remote. If you do, the remote won't do anything until you restart your Zune.

You'd have to plug the headphones INTO the remote - please read the specs on EXACTLY what the "Zune Dual Connect Remote" is.

But, TBH, it should work perfectly for your situation.

The wired remote from the Zune 30 days still works with the HD. I just tested it a few days ago.

In case you weren't joking; Randomness nailed it. If he wants, he can use the dual connect just to forward songs while having his headphones plugged directly into the ZuneHd. Like Randomness also said, the only drawback is that the volume control on the dual connect will not affect any headphones that are plugged directly into the ZHD.

I was JK'ing, but I wanna ask a question: How the HELL would you use the inline remote IF the headphones are plugged DIRECTLY INTO the Zune, ANY ZUNE?!?!?! That would mean the inline remote isn't plugged in, and the the headphones are directly plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack,...NO?!?!?! So, in summation, the remote is sitting on the TABLE and it won't work to control the ZUNE?!?!?!

That makes no sense, and neither did your "clarification",...

Does the plug for the remote cover the 3.5mm jack? Because other than that, I don't see how it would restrict you using the player's jack...

The inline remote is plugged into it's dock connector, NOT its audio jack because Zune does not enable 4pole audio jacks. Think of it as a small dock and remote connected.

so it bypasses the audio chip in the zune and uses the one in the remote?
