I've thrown together a simple main menu for purposes of more UCI experimentation. It doesn't use any images, just standard flash rectangles and text (the Summer Glau background is the system wallpaper).
First screen: ![]() at the bottom is an arrow, to scroll to the second screen: ![]() which now changes to an arrow that scrolls back to the first screen. The "X" currently doesn't do anything. The "INFO" button opens a status screen, kind of "lightbox-ish": ![]() It was a little bit of a challenge to find how to prevent presses on this panel activating he buttons underneath (how odd). |

Looks nice.
Oh, and so does the UCI!

I like it. Maybe you could have tapping on the X remove (or make invisible) the menus so the image can be seen clearly.

I was thinking the same thing.

Well the X now clears all controls from the screen, which fully shows the lovely background, and which essentially locks the screen. I've added an invisible button that if pressed, brings the controls back. I'm going to change that to a 2 step process. Also, I currently have the "+/-" buttons working from here, but not pause or skip. Once I take care of that stuff, I think it makes the S9 much easier to use blindly (just by feel in a pocket w/o seeing the screen).
For me, anyway, I find that fumbling with the lock button, then the vol buttons (while in a pocket) causes me to accidentally do things on the touch screen, so operating it that way hasn't worked so well. But so far, this new menu seems to be solving that (time will tell). |

Very nice job, rphunt2002. I love functional no-nonsense UIs that are good looking - and blend in with the rest of the S9's stock UI (which most other UIs besides Claw's don't do).

![]() It's cool that several of us looked at a simple "X" and saw the same potential. Status Update: I've made the volume, pause, and skip buttons all functional when the screen controls are cleared away. I've made the unlock process one of tapping an invisible box in the upper right corner, which makes a padlock appear in the lower left corner. Tapping that brings the screen controls back. Oh, and added a remaining-space-meter to the Info box. Thinking about some kind of play-status popup next. Last edited by rphunt2002; 12-31-2009 at 08:39 PM. Reason: update |

This is very nice. The wallpaper (pressing 'X') feature is very nice.
Nice One |
