Hi,
Although I have been looking all over the Internet, I don't know how to find a particular product. I have been a big fan of this site and thought you might be able to help. I have a few thousand CDs that I am ready to transfer to MP3 (my CD player finally died). Once those will be all transferred to my computer, I would like to continue using my high end audio system in the living room. So I would like to wirelessly send/stream music from my computer to the living room. I would like to find a device (preferably a MP3 player as opposed to a simple receiver type box). I would like to stay away from Ipod and Zune as I am not a fan of their proprietary software (kinda of sold on MediaMonkey). I have a limited budget but could go up to CDN$300. Thanks in advance! WD HDTV Live. Not a portable MP3 player, but it is designed to both play content off any USB storage device you plug into it, or stream your shared content from your PC or networked storage device (recommended).

The way that I handle this is to plug one of my old mp3 players into the stereo aux input using a Y-cable (headphone to twin RCA). Then I don't need the computer on. Also we can have two stereos playing different music (wife up, me down).
They are only 1GB players, so I end up changing the music on them occasionally for more variety. But if it bothered me I could buy an 8+GB player (like a Fuze or Clip+) relatively inexpensively. Heck I already have an 8GB Fuze (currently with a GB micro SDHC card in it) that I don 't use all that much. Steve |
