Default Sansa Clip Read-Only Problems

I have a 2GB Blue Sansa Clip with firmware version 01.01.29A. I use Ubuntu Linux to sync songs, and it has worked quite well. Until now. After upgrading the firmware from 01.01.20 i began experiencing problems. Among them were refreshing the database at every startup, an inability to add songs to the GoList and save ratings, and now, the player has made itself read-only, so i can't add/remove songs or up/downgrade the firmware. I have a new one on the way, but i would like to fix the old one. Any help wold be appreciated.
