Default 1.02.28 firmware for the Fuze!

Randomly inserted my Fuze and thought I'd check the sansa updater and sure enough, the Fuze has a firmware update!

Dunno any changes but will definitely try to notice any changes while using it at the gym in a few hours!

According to the release notes:

Enhancements:

  • slotRadio experience is enhanced

Bugs Fixed:
Rating info is lost following database refresh on songs loaded in microSD
Deleting video from microSD card doesn’t clear file from database
FM playback stops when microSD card is ejected
Device hangs if powered down during video playback
Some language strings are incorrect
Audiobook/Podcast count is not correct at Information screen

Known Issues:
Some language strings are still in English
Refresh database progress bar doesn’t scale with time

Basically, some simple bugfixes, the addition of a SlotRadio icon/advertisement in the main menu when your region is set to "America," and the introduction of a new bug not documented above: Attempting to access the ReplayGain menu crashes the player (for v2 firmware versions, at least).

Sweet! Thanks for the info.

I hate it when I'm watching a video clip / movie and for some reason I have to turn my fuze off it hangs. (I'm watcing Hot Fuzz at the moment btw.. Hot Fuze... *groan*)
Gonna try and update my fuze's firmware.
I'm sure I got a V1, so I'll be safe to use replay gain?

You should stick to the .26 firmware.

I never watched videos on my V1 when I had it, and never used ReplayGain, so for me the .26 was stable, that's why I initially recommended sticking with it.

I just took another look, and I guess you should be safe updating, and if you're watching videos especially, it seems that video hang-up was fixed. I guess all the issues with ReplayGain are on V2 Fuzes.

Good luck!

I have been using .26 with an older version of Rockbox for quite some time. After I updated to .28, Rockbox won't start anymore, although .rockbox is still visible on my player.

Can I fix this myself, or should I somehow go back to .26?

Grrr...

It's raining outside and I decided it's time to update my fuze's firmware. All went smoothly until I booted up and noticed that on some songs (didn't bother to check all) that the replaygain info is MISSING!

I used media monkey to analyze the volume and sync them to the fuze.

Oh well... suppose it's time to clear and sync all the songs again...

oh, if you EQ your player, be sure to take notes of your settings too before you update. I'm a n00b so I didn't. Need to fiddle with that too!

EDIT: mine's definitely a V1 (1.xx.xx.26)

You removed the Rockbox bootloader when you upgraded the firmware. Compile another bootloader with the new firmware.

Thank you. That was all I needed to know.
I don't understand how Rockbox functions, but I do know I like it better than the original firmware.

EDIT: I'm getting an error. They probably don't have the new firmware working with Rockbox yet.
''[ERR] Original firmware unknown, please try another version. Tested c200 versions are: 3.02.05

The 2.02.28 firmware made my fuze crash at the docking station... It's only connected to a stereo jack and outlet, and the fuze started behaving like it was connected to the computer...

Never had problems with this player before. I'm downgrading to the x.26!

The downgrade to any of the firmwares below didn't work. The fuze still crashes at the docking station after playing for a while.... Help!

Is it that you couldn't downgrade or that the player still crashes after the downgrade?

The down and upgrades work fine. The player recognizes every version of the firmware. The problem is that after installing the x.28 version, the player started to crash when playing through the docking station (Griffin Power Dock for Sansa). It plays for 3 or 4 minutes and, suddenly, stops playing and in the screen appears the connected/charging message, as if it was connected to a computer.

I assumed this as being a firmware related bug, so I downgraded to the two former versions, but the problem subsisted. Now I upgraded again to the x.28.

I've already dusted and cleaned the contacts. Now I'm formatting the memory and reverting to factory settings, I'm taking the uSD card off and I'm uploading some music only to internal memory, to see what happens.

Thanks! Worked flawlessly for me. Not a big update but nice to have a firmware to bring some new life into this great player.

I had a problem with the replay gain. I was getting the white screen. Well i checked out the sandisk forums and here is what i found for anyone having issues with the new firmware.

Sandisk is listening. This was recently posted in Slotmonsta's first post in this thread.

Please keep all replies on topic regarding the current release of the Sansa Fuze Firmware.
We have confirmed a bug with Replay Gain in this firmware release. This bug only effects Fuze v2 devices. We are working on a new firmware which should be released very soon and have confirmed the issue is fixed. After the new firmware has passed a full QA cycle the new firmware will be released. If you have experienced this issue your options are:

1. Temperately turn off replay gain until the next firmware release is available
2. Use the following link to downgrade to the .26 firmware release. 02.02.26 firmware download and instructions

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to have the new firmware available as soon as possible.
