Default gapless playback
Is it just my zune hd, or does the zune hd not have gapless playback. I know for some people it is a big issue, and it's not mentioned on the firmware wishlist, so I'm thinking maybe it's just mine.

It's supposed to have gapless playback. Which filetypes are you having trouble with, and how were they encoded?

You will find some stuff works and other stuff doesn't It all depends on how the file is cut. If there is a fade out or a bit of empty track at the end it will still play it.

When I play the music through my computer the gapless works fine, so I don't think that's it.

I have both music from the zune pass and my own stuff, I have no problems with them. Well thats not true ,some cobie calet (sp?) stuff wont do it. Otherwise its all good.

I tried some of my own mp3's and the gapless worked. I also tried a little bit more zune pass content and some of it worked. At least i know it's a problem with the files and not my player. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Sorry for bringing this back up but I see a bit of a problem...
Marketplace stuff(pass) doesn't seem to have gapless working but regular mp3's I have work fine...
Case in point:
MP3 version of Pink Floyd's Pulse(Live) works fine with gapless
Zune pass version of same album has a big break between songs...

Since this is a live album...it really spoils it...

Dave, can you look into this?

There was a more recent thread that covered this... gapless is totally broken (doesn't work at all) for all protected Marketplace content on the Zune HD, and has been since day launch. It's OK for the previous Zunes, though.

For the rest, gapless playback mostly works... but it's not perfect. Unprotected WMA (not WMA Lossless) might be the most reliable.

These are the improvements I care about...asking for non-core items like facebook apps and games should be secondary imho

Ya, I was the biggest proponent of gapless originally. Won't say that I fathered the feature, but let's just say I'm a huge fan.

Does gapless work for you on MP3s purchased at the store? Is this just subscription content?

Any audio tracks with DRM (Zune Pass, or Purchased) make no attempt at gapless playback on the Zune HD at this time, unlike previous generation devices.

It's not even a subtle glitch/pop/skip... it doesn't even seem to try.

MP3 is generally fine. (Though as mentioned previously... no format achieves 100% gapless perfection on any of the Zune devices at this time.)
