Got my HiFiMAN yesterday.

It's a bit pickey as far as what you load onto it. It likes just files (just flac files in my case) added, without having any peripehral files like .cue .jpg .txt or any other files you may have in your folders.

The sound is worth the picky software.

It can act as a DAC (coaxial or USB) or a digital audio player.

It sounds great, especially for a portable. It's huge, has a nice finish, and is heavy. Most of the weight is the battery.

It can drive full size headphones without a problem.

Only bad part is the price. Sorry about your wallet.

To be fair, the HiFiMan is targeted toward people who prefer good sounding audio beyond anything else. Even though it's fugly, large, and has terrible battery life, I do see a niche market for this player.

Sorry, but after having every single thread on head-fi invaded by a recommendation for this or the amp-whatever crap, I'm really not willing to deal w/it here as well. It's an overpriced piece-o-shit!!!!!

There are just too many good players on the market to fall for this … It’s an overpriced POS with only a 30 day warranty, no gapless, short battery life, etc, etc. There was an independent review on headfi by nc8000 till the owner read it and did not like it, after a pm the whole thread was deleted because negative comments were made.

Warranty policy: 30 days refund, 90 days free replacement and 1 year repair. Customers will be able to buy 2-year free repair warranty plan.

Well I guess if you can't afford it, it is a POS.

It is the best sounding Lossless player out there. Buggy firmware, but that can be fixed.

It sounds better than anything else out there.

You can get an IPOD shuffle for $49.00 if that's really what you want.

If you can afford it buy it. If you can't call it a POS. LOL.

There is a personal problem between nc8000 and Fang and/or Head-fi. No issue with the HiFiMAN.

Being able to afford it has no bearing, as I could get 1 now. I say it's a piece-o-shit because there are many lower priced alternatives that won't be a PITA to use. Great SQ is fine and well, but that POS isn't the best player on the market. That is, unless your opinion is all that matters,.......

Best sounding according to who? Do you have proof? Are there any RMMA graphs or sound test to prove your claim? None that I have read and even if it was at par with other top notch players, it doesn’t do gapless, bad battery life, limited codec support, no pan, no eq, etc. ... I read that once you have inserted the sd card you shouldn’t remove it, is that true? What players are you comparing it to?

Finally I'm not throwing stones at you and I don't believe there is any reasons to, as far as affording one or not is my business and how can you make such an ill informed statement. I doubt that it would make my ue11s sound any better than my current set up does, btw what phones are you using?

What he really said was deleted rather than debated intelligently by fang, how do I know, I posted into the same thread, poof gone. How can a personal problem exist between two persons that don’t even know each other, Fang let him borrow one or sold him an early model to show at a meet, I don't know so I'm guessing. I’m assuming this is an owner/investor (fang) who couldn’t deal with reading unbiased opinions and requested that they be deleted, nuff said.

Personally I think you were better off with your Vibez. BTW Without going into stories, I know first hand how good the Ferrari build quality is, how can you compare a proven automobile like a Ferrari that’s been around since the early 60's to a brand new DAP, you my friend need a reality check.
